A friend of mine used to own a Suzuki/Hyundai/Volvo/Subaru dealership. He got bored with it and sold the franchises to his father, who owned an RV/motorcycle dealership. Needless to say there's quite a bit of money floating about in this family.

When my friend's younger brother turned sixteen he was presented with a brand new Subaru Impreza RS - the black one with gold wheels, before the WRX became available here. He absolutely flat out refused to drive it. He wanted a Civic. His buddies all drove Civics, and he wasn't going to be seen in a smelly ol' Subaru. He actually threw a temper tantrum about it. His father relented, and even though he owned a Subaru dealership he went across the road and bought him a new Civic SI. Now THAT'S spoiled.

i just called the number,, got a sweet sounding womans voice mail.

Looked up the area code for the city and called the number. Guess who answered the phone,,, yep,, the son.

So,, after talking for a while and introducing myself as well as our site, it looks like someone may be dropping by and posting up pics and such.

The guy says ,,"well, ive been driving the car and ,, well,,, im kinda starting to like it".

i fell inlove with mine right off the bat, but all my import friends talked chassis codes and all that jazz so i used to think about getting like a mkII supra or rx7. peer pressure as retarded as it is plays a roll in a young kid's choice of what he wants to drive. if i get an import, its ganna be my daily driver to replace my ~23mpg for ~28mpg only.

Most kids are spoiled like that because their parents made them that way.You can't wait until they're in their teens to try and teach them appreciation,and what is right and wrong.That has to start from day one.Mom and Dad are the one's to blame.

All these cars need usually is wheels, they look 10x better after that. Send him a picture of some of our nicer examples...those are the ones that keep me believing in the car. A big part of why the TCs are loved so much is simply nicer factory wheels. I'm gonna be honest, I wouldn't drive that thing with the wire wheels either, no offense to those of you who do...I just like nice wheels. 10 holes or snowflakes and sure I'll take it any day, even with the V6.

I can see how a 16 year old could mistake that car for a "granny car" or something, but all it really needs is wheels to look great. I mean, with everyone in this country leaning towards gas-mileage-oriented Hondas, who's to blame someone for following suit? No matter how devastatingly wrong they are...

GREAT looking T-Bird, by the way.

I must be doing something right. My son is 11 & he is determined to own my bird when he is 16. Sometimes I think he has more plans for it than I do.Hopefully he has more $ than I do!

I liked the 87-88 Cougar more than the 4 Eye when I first got mine but now the 4 Eye has grown on me and I love it!

I've bought all my cars. What really ticks me off is kids who have their parents buy them stuff to hop up their car. I mean no 19 year old can afford to put a tubo charged 500 hp engine in their Civic. 99% of the time mommy and daddy pay for it, unless that 19 year old has one hell of a job....

Yeah, I always wonder about that either.

Especially the ones that are so adamant that "I worked for what I have, blah blah blah" well even if you did, how'd you afford $3000+ in parts?

IMO- the ones that claim that probably had all their school paid for and had their parents pay for everything else.

Some dude on a local forum I'm on is 19 and has a totally riced out Tiburon with custom paint and a body kit and monitors everywhere in it and all this. He insists that he paid for it all himself AND that he went to auto school or something (although, I have to wonder how he's already out?)- when I was 19, I was working near 30 hours a week on top of 15 hours of classes, lived at home, had school paid for with loans, grants & the like, and I was STILL broke!

Hey that car is like 20mins from my house!!! Sweet, i bet my dad will wanna check it out...he's been keeping his eye out for another fox tbird.

As for me, my parents bought the Tbird for $1500 with the intention of using it as a nice weekend outing car, but it didnt get used often so dad offered it to me as my first car. My HO parts were my high school graduation gift and cost about $300 total. CD Player was a Christmas present. I paid for the exhaust system (about $300) and everything else. I appreciate my car a ton; every time i drive it, in fact. I never thought in a million years I'd have a car as nice as the Tbird at 19. I look forward to driving it all the time, and for being my DD, thats a good thing.

My daughter is 21 and has about 4 of them (that I know about). she works all week to pay them + cell phone. She says she never has money but always buys something new.
We're not sure where she picked up that way to live, we always taught her the opposite.

my credit is already in the gutter and i havnt even ever gotten a CC before. its a long story, but the last thing i need now is a credit card lol. i'd rather ebay stuff for money.

i hope your daughter isnt ganna regret all her spending later on, good luck with that.
