brake lights....where did they go ???

i have installed a 1983 cougar harness in my 84 thunderbird. i have lost my brake lights....all other lights and functions work..i have no voltage at either pin connector at the brake switch. i have installed a new brake switch..still no fix. i can't find where the brake light circuit gets its power from????

Fuse #1 powers the lights through the brake switch and the four way flasher.
Does the four way flasher work?

yes all my other lights work. the flashers, turn signals, headlights, hi-beams , back up lights too. i will check too see if i have power at the fuse today. if i don't where is the power supplied from for the brakes. it has to be a hot at all times source right?? i can't find a wiring diagram anywhere for the brake lights and switch.

 oh mighty god of wiring diagrams  .......lol, where did you find this book ??? i got a chilton and haynes and both are useless. where in the car is this mutifunction switch ???? what does it look like ????? i am gonna check for voltage at the pin connector at the muti switch then trace it to the fuse then the brake switch. it is just funny how everysingle light works except the brakes....even tried jumping it at the connector for the switch .

I bought it from Helm Inc. in 1984 when I bought the car. They print the Ford shop manuals. It is the EVTM (Electrical & Vacuum Troubleshooting Manual)

The MFS is on the steering column. It is operated by the turn signal stalk.

If you have no voltage at the brake pedal switch, you will want to look at the LG/R H wire #10 from the hazard flasher to the brake pedal switch.
The hazard flasher is on the back side of the fuse panel. It is behind the turn signal flasher.

my hazards lights work. i have installed a complete turbo coupe steering column. and changed out the wiper switch on the column to a 1983 model. (so the plug would fit) and the wipers work... the delay and all. hhuumm.....if i don't have voltage at the fuse then should i run a wire from the cigar lighter (always hot) to the wire for the fuse for the brakes ???? but i thought that fuse does more than just brakes????? why would just the brakes light side of that circuit not be working ??? am gonna look for an open also in the harness. sorry about that doing alot of thinking out loud....any more suggestions??? i will keep you posted for sure. thanks again for all your help

Look at fuse #1 on the diagram. You will see it feeds the hazard flasher. The flasher works so you have voltage to that point.

Then a wire from the top side of the flasher goes to the brake pedal switch. You say you don't have voltage at the switch. So the problem is between those two points.

All this stuff I am giving you is for 84. I don't have any 83 diagrams.
