dude, i hate to be a dick...but...

you have no idea what youre talking about

ive owned a turbo dodge, a couple friends own turbo dodges, and i belong to a turbo dodge forum, its very VERY rare they blow headgaskets for no reason, yeah theyll blow, but itll be because it was overheated, not because they suck

hell, my friend is running 22-23 psi on the FACTORY head gasket, factory bottom end, 140K miles, and no problems...explain that if they spit headgaskets
It's Gumby's fault.

Don;t feel bad.  I have no experiance with the turbo cars specifically.  It just seems we used to get a lot of those chrysler four cylinders (2.2 and 2.5) at the shop with either a blown Hg or timeing belt problems.  Headgaskets much more so then comparable domestic cars of the same vintage (tempo, cavalier etc...) tipically with less miles.

I didn;t mean to say that they were bad cars at all, my point was that some people uselessly write off a car (as a lemon, or money pit) because of an unexplicable sequence of small yet highly annoying repairs.  Even if the parts are cheep the labour (to most regualr folks) and towing and shop fees really jack up the price or a repair.

I love seeing those cars... which doesn't happen often.
I once saw two Shelby Daytonas in a local junkyard back in the late-'90s. One was blue with silver stripes, while the other was silver with blue stripes.
Both of them had great bodies with ground effects, so I'm assuming it was a drivetrain problem that put them in the yard.
What a shame...

I honestly dont think you could exceed the cost of a new car buy installing new *stock* parts everywhere in your coug our tbird. Its just plain impossible. You could revamp the entire drivetrain/engine/suspenstion and still come out ahead.

a labaren turbo, a buddy had one of these. it scooted. it was exactly a fast as my first sport (88') with stage 3 shift kit, 8.8 with 3;55s, 2600 rpm stallion converter, underdrive pullies, cold air intake and flex fan. i thought i was gonna own him.

the shelby daytona, yeah..i learned that the hard way. a guy at work had one and was goin on how rare and fast it was. i barely pulled on him with my mark viii with a stallion 2600 rpm stall, stage 2 shift kit and chip.

the shelby daytona's wernt as fast as like the Omni and Charger GLHS, of the Shelby CSX, since they were the heavier of the K-cars

my buddy has an 88 Shelby Datona Z, we put a powerstroke intercooler in it, a 4 puck clutch in it, some suspension work, an intake on it, and a free flowing exhaust, and the car runs its ass off
