Problems with C3 to T5 swap. 1985 Cougar XR7 December 31, 2007, 09:44:30 PM So I just completed my C3 to T5 swap on the 85 Cougar XR7. Every thing is A ok except that the car wont start. :hick: Anyway when trying to start the car with the key I got nothing to the starter or the solenoid. Interior lights buzzer etc etc work great. I can start the car by jumping the solenoid and then we are good to go.I replaced the ignition switch because on the old one you needed to jiggle the key to get the wipers etc to work. So what did I miss? Clutch switch? Neutral safety switch? Anyone have a wiring diagram posted on line that I can look at.kyle Quote Selected
Problems with C3 to T5 swap. 1985 Cougar XR7 Reply #1 – December 31, 2007, 10:48:38 PM Manual trans. you don't have a neutral safety switch. The 87 EVTM shows a jumper wire across where the safety switch contacts would be on an auto trans. Looks like this jumper is in the connector down on the crossmember that holds the transmission. The connector has 4 wires two for the safety switch and two for the backup lights. The R/LB and W/PK wires need to be jumpered together. If you installed a clutch switch you should have removed a green wire jumper from the connector at the clutch switch. Exactly what I need. I have that 4 pin plug but dont have a wiring diagram to look at. Perfect. Thanks dude. After this I need to figure out what to do with the speedo and the reverse lights.kyle Quote Selected

Problems with C3 to T5 swap. 1985 Cougar XR7 Reply #6 – January 01, 2008, 01:49:23 AM if you jumper the other two wires in that plug, that should give you your working back up lights... and just change the speedo sensor gear from the t5 onto the speedo sensor and bolt it back in, and you should be good to go.EDIT:I have a diagram here someplace that Birdbrain printed out for me... I will scan it for you in the morning when I find it. Quote Selected
