S-197 Shift s?

Any way to make these fit our cars?  I scored a new '05 Mustang GT  for $10 but it's too big for my shifter (Steeda Tri-Ax).  Any ideas?  '86 TC.

Make your self a bushing. Those universal after market ones use hard plastic tubing pieces of different thicknesses to make there  work on your shifter. What I say to get you some metal tubing and thread the inside to screw on your shifter. Then thread the outside to let the  screw on to it.You will most likely have to make it the right thickness.  Then you might be able to make and sell those bushings most of the After market stang shizniters come with Stock treaded handles. So you can understand how many people this could work for. I even think the 80's camaros with borg warner T-5 have the same threaded shifter. Never know you night be able to find a Heli coil that would make it work.

I had the same problem with a shift  from a '95 Camaro Z-28.

The best suggestion I got was to use a heli-coil to compromise for the larger threads.
I never got around to it, though. I used a nylon bushing insert with some epoxy and tapped the T5 threads into it.
It worked perfectly until I ripped off the  during a spirited 1-2 shift. I think it's still in the back seat.

That is weird...  The thread pitch for the '05-'08 s is 12 x 1.25.  Anyone know what ours is?

That sounds nice but how are you gonna tap it so that the top is pointing in the right direction?

I'll just have to keep test fitting it as I go along...  That's the downside but I think I can make it work.  If that doesn't work or I go too far, I'll stick a nut on the shifter that the  can tighten down on.
