Stop leak..Radiator flush...And HEAT!!!!

Ok,, as some of you know I purchased my cougar out of a salvage yard.  Well the thermastat housing bolts were just broken off and there was all kinds of junk around it in an atempt to seal it.  I swear they tried to use jb weld as a gasket maker and bondo to seal around it, seriously I found bondo!  Well I fixed it right, drilled the old bolts out and rethreaded it.  Now in the car I found all sorts of empty gallons of antifreeze and stop leak....  Well go figure I have no heat in my car.. None..  tisk tisk...

Well I'm sitting in autozone trying to figure out what radiator flush to use.  And I decide that what I need is not on the shelfs of our stores!  I purchased two gallons of antifreeze and one of those cheesy flush kits with the hose adapters and what not.  I rushed over to walmart and purchased a quart of C.L.R.

Take note that this stuff is designed to break up calcium, lime and rust.  The things that like to cause problems in our coolant systems.  Well I drained a little bit of coolant out and poored the CLR in.  I drove the car for two days and decided to flush it today.  All kinds of grime and junk came out.  I drove down the road and got it up to running temperature and low and behold I have a heater!  Its not anywere near as hot as my buddys tbird or as my ranger but it is definenty an improvement.  It now warms the car up!

Only thing is the CLR says to not use on aluminum but I did anyway.  I figure it will harm it in its concetrated form strait out of the bottle not mixed with antifreeze...  So far so good.!!!

only thing I'd really be worried about with that... would be the water pump and the rubber hoses.. leaning more to the rubber hoses..

CLR is strong stuff for sure
