i've been thinking(i know trouble lies ahead). if you added a panhard rod and took one of the rear upper control arms off woult it work?

it is generally called a poor man's 3link, or PM3L.

yes it can work, and yes people do it. i personally wouldnt recommend it.

is there a reason? to me it seems like it would work ok. is it the angle of the upper? you could probably use one of the uppers off a steeda 5-link kit. they are straight the ends are angled to compensate.

the stock upper arms, bushings, and mounts arent designed to individually take the full load of an singular upper arm.
if you are gonna go swappin out arms and reinforcing mounts, jus build a real third link and mounts.

also "can work" and "works ok," are not the same thing.
there are performance drawbacks to the PM3L as well, due to the angle of the upper and the offset location on the housing. there is more information than any one person could handle about the PM3L over on CC.
