32VFoxBird...I gotta ask ya...

just what is the name and shade of that paint in your engine bay?
and what is the areas I've marked with the question marks for?
That's gonna look bad-ass when it's all done...You said something about a Navigator engine...would that be a 5.4? :evilgrin: :D

the color is 03/04 mustang mach 1 azure blue. as far as the question marks in your pic, i dont know what you're asking me really. those spots are an open channel from the factory that i sealed off with sheet metal and bondo.

and yes, ive picked up a DOHC 5.4L navigator motor to use. http://www.foxtbirdcougarforums.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=13726&stc=1&d=1193433555

I guess the ? on the left would be the air box area, the ? on the right would be the battery area.

2 heads, 2 cams...dual...overhead..cams ;)

DOHC = 2 cams in each head. each head has an intake and an exhaust cam. 4 cams total. 2 intake valves and 2 exhaust valves for each cylinder. 32 valve engine.

SOHC = 1 cam in each head. each head as one cam that handles both intake and exhaust. 2 cams total. 1 intake valve and 1 exhaust valve per each cylinder. 16 valve engine.

then theres the 3 valve engines. i "think" they are all SOHC.

I coulda sworn a recent Hot Rod or Car Craft article had something about putting the 4.6 into fox-bodies and getting it to fit . .  but don't hold me to that . . gotta see if I can dig up the article.

the 4.6L wasnt a problem. it was the 5.4L that'll test your patience.

Forgive my lack of knowledge here...I thought that the 4.6 and 5.4 were roughly identical in size?
About all I know of modular engines is that they share a few parts between them. :hick:

no, they're not. the block, crank, rods, intake, and timing cover are what separate the two.

4.6L = 281ci
5.4L = 330ci
