Took the 30th to a Ford car show (DUW) October 28, 2007, 11:57:50 PM I've spent hours detailing the 30th, collecting info (press releases, dealer order info, advertisp00gets, owners package, belt buckle, you name it) so the family took it to a Ford show at a local dealer. The car, nearly perfect as it is, only got 2nd place in the Tbird class: a very pristine 1965 Tbird droptop beat it. :(Note the awesome vanity plateMember's Only leather jacket My Dad's 2007 Mustang GT is next to it. Congratulations on the second place, sucks some guy showed that beauty up with a 1965.The one perk is that he is the president of the local chapter of a national Thunderbird club. He encouraged me to bring the 30th out to their events...I am a shoe-in over there because 80s models will not be represented well. I have no chance against the popularity of 50s-60s birds, but hey, maybe it'll be fun to win a trophy or three with a T-bird specific club. Might add to the car's value too. Quote Selected
Took the 30th to a Ford car show (DUW) Reply #7 – October 29, 2007, 02:26:27 PM I always take claims of trophy victories with a grain of salt as cars seem to do well in classes by themselves. Obviously, that isn't the case with you as your car is a true trophy winner. You should be really proud of it. Congrats!!Tell your bro I'd love to have a car like that someday myself. I've had the same job for 28 years, but what if I went back to school? How long would I have to stay in to get a GT? lol Quote Selected

The owner of the 65 is most likely some old man with money and paid someone to build his car. not you , you earned the second place with pride sweat and tears.... GOOD JOB !!!!!!!! I can only hope to be so lucky one day.... Quote Selected

It's a pain in the ass but it's worth it when you're done :DI spent about 8 hours under the hood cleaning/detailing (but the valve covers need repainting) and about 10 mins washing it. The car sits under a cover in a storage lot, so cleanup isn't a big deal. Interior was already perfect (no surprise) but I put Obenauf's oil on the leather wheel and the Member's Only jacket to moisten them up. Aside from the 22 year old Goodyear Gatorbacks, the car drives great. Slow, but great. I need to put my Cougar's old Turbines on it and let the 10 holes take a breather. Who knows when I'll ever find another set of original Gatorbacks, right? Quote Yeah i agree , don't sweat second place. The only difference is I preserved a car that almost nobody knows about. And I got a lot of material on it too, mostly thanks to eBay.Oh, and thanks to whoever made this icon --> TOTALLY MADE FOR OUR BIRD! Quote Selected

Took me 3 days to clean, months and months to get all the 30th goodies on eBay and the ads from junk magazines. All totally worth it. :) Quote Selected
