Well this sucks

So it’s my long weekend.. 4 days, Friday to Monday for my birthday. They ask me to come in Friday because some VIP is going to be here and I need to meet with him… Some trucker swings a corner wide at 7am and back of his trailer does this to my car… then to top it off the VIP doesn’t show. So I came into work today just to get my car crunched.

I think I'm going to go home and go back to bed!

Holy cow Jim!!!

I sure hope you got his insurance info! You're fixing it right?

I have a (free) door and a fender if you need them man, heck I can even drop em off tomorrow.

You'll have to buy a new door, front fender, mirror and trim.  The good news is that it doesn't appear to have structural damage. The bad news is that your 2-tone paint could be difficult to match.

yea have all the info, already made the report and got the call back from the adjuster. Body shops being reluctant to give me a quote saying the insurance will total so theres no sense. just wait and see what they offer.
Not sure what I'm going to do with it just yet, so far I'm at the thoughts that IF they do total then I "probably" won't fix it.
Not interested in a car with a branded title.
Leifs auto body wouldent quote.
Macco will fix the se on the other side and full repaint in the  Charcoal Grey  (factory lower color of the 2 tone) for $1400, or $1100 if I get it into them in 30 days. (I'm considering this based on getting replacement parts from Michael and replacing them myself)
Again.. all depends on weather they brand my title as a total or not... if they do then I will have to get a real sweet deal before I'll  keep it.
Also considering using what they may give me to buy a sprayer and paint and painting it myself (again taking Michael up on his generous offer)

just gotta wait and see at this point.

Is it leagule to drive this in Washington without a drivers side door mirror? Michael?

Unless you plan on selling it I can't see why a branded title would hurt anything. You'll know it's branded, but you'll be the only one.

I'd try negotiating with the insurance company and tell 'em you'll fix it yourself IF they don't total it. Oh, and get the thing appraised - if you get it appraised at a licensed appraiser they'll have to give you the value of the car, not the bluebook. That car is still in good enough shape, and with the mods done, that any appraiser would be able to assign a "pre-crash" value to it. A higher replacement value would make it less likely to be totaled, too, since they decide based on repair cost vs replacement value (I think the ratio is around 60-70%)

Brutal! That sucks, man. I hope you can get it sorted out. I know my insurance would probably total mine with that much damage.

Total is 75% of vehicles total value. There is no way that is 75% of total value. Especially if you can get cheap parts. Granted its worth to them maybe a few grand, that would make at least 1500 worth of damages. I know a door doesnt cost that much, especially used. Take what you can get and put the stuff on yourself. I wouldnt spend the money on Maacco(sp) I know they dont do good quality. Save that cash for a future repaint.

Also, I was backed into, they replaced the driver fender, striping and refinished the hood, header, fender and door. It was $956 in damages, that was 2 years ago on my Cougar. The shop way overcharged, and they werent even attempting to total it, with such minor damage. They want to total cars that arent driveable.

they totalled my Jeep GC back in January.  Since I bought it back, they never branded my title.  If I go to sell it, I may have to check the box next to the Damage Disclosure Statement.  But til then, no fuss, no muss.  I don't plan on ever selling it, so....

That's in MN with Progressive Ins.

A good body shop can pull that out and straighten it no problem. You would need to have the lower part of the car painted as it's impossible to color match metalic paint in that area where you won't see it. I like that car too. Don't junk it. It looks just like mine (except for the Bullits, and the dent;) ).

when my car was totaled the insurance claim adjustewwr told me that when a car hit a certian age it doesnt carry a salvage. bc i asked in hopes of rebuilding and was worried about the salvage. but he told me once a car is over 10 or so years it's not branded unless it was b4. but never rebuilt bc of the mustang . so dont let that stop you  car seems clean and in good shape
