Minimal Exhaust and Waste Gate Dump Tube

Hi guys, on my new turbo setup I have an external wastegate, a 38mm TiAL.  I think I am going to dump this to atmosphere, I have a  and am thinking I'll have a 1.5" diameter tube welded to it that will bend at a 90* angle and go down towards the bottom of the engine compartment, where it will dump to atmo.

Any thoughts on this?  I don't mind the sound of the atmo dump, I just want to get that hot air out of the engine compartment, right now its blasting right into my firewall (not my daily driver, don't worry, I'm not charring things too badly).

Also, my exhaust consists of a 3" elbow off my turbine housing, that drops down about 6" and dumps right there.  I think I'd like to put a 90* elbow on it with a turndown, just to get the exhaust out of the engine bay.  No lers, minimal backpressure, mmmmm...

You want at least 2' of pipe after the elbow. My TC went faster with the pipe then without. Get it down and turn under the car, so you don't breathe fumes. No cat or ler required at all.

Yes, you need *some* exhaust, mostly to keep the air flow uniform
It's Gumby's fault.

The less exhaust, the more it sounds like a tractor, with a large turbo.
It's Gumby's fault.

Even the SC50 sounded like  until I got some length on the pipe. It ended up being a 2.5" mandrel single all the way to the rear axle with a Dynomax Ultra-Flo Bullet and a downturn. That sounded great at everything except idle.
