Tire Size question October 17, 2007, 12:55:25 AM What is the max size of tire that I can get for my 1986 Mercury Cougar LS. I want to get the Goodyear Eagle GT II since there on the car but shot and look good. What would be a good set up with the car, I was thinking making the back bigger and leave the front 1 size smaller :S Any helpers? Also I have the stock rims with the nice hub cabs, well I like them :S No one esle seems to lol... Quote Selected

Tire Size question Reply #4 – October 17, 2007, 10:47:38 PM By the looks of it the tires on those rims are about as wide as you can go. Don't go narrower on the front. Thats just asking for a poor handling car. Quote Selected

Tire Size question Reply #6 – October 18, 2007, 12:10:49 AM I had 225/70/R14 on the back of my car when I first got it. They actually fit pretty good. Quote Selected

Tire Size question Reply #9 – October 20, 2007, 06:11:21 PM when i bought my 83, the lady had 245/60/14's on it.... they were really wide, but DIDN'T rub on the hard turns.... the only reason i didn't replace them with the same size is that the factory size was 1/2 the price..... but i think if you have 14's... that's the biggest i'd go.... it did look badass with them :) Quote Selected

Tire Size question Reply #11 – October 20, 2007, 09:06:13 PM Yeah, they're 5.5" wide. 215s would be the widest I'd go. Quote Selected
