SN-95 conversion NIGHTMARE!! October 16, 2007, 10:01:33 PM All i gotta say is holy fu***** that sucked and still sucks.Figured i'd do my 95 sn95 front end conversion today at the shop after work, what a mistake that was.Started out figuring i could leave the old stuff all together as a unit and remove the spindle as a whole with brakes and all,WRONG!!!Everything had to be dissasembled down to the bare spindle(not to bad but more work than i expected). After getting all the old stuff out i figured i'd lower the front end a 1/2" or so buy cutting off half a coil from each front spring with my cutoff tool(another nightmare),found out both my front springs are broken 1 full coil at the bottoms(fu**)o well.Cut a half coil off the broken part and flatend off the part where the spring broke then reinested it into the rubber spring isolator(that worked, thank god). Then trying to get the springs back in was a royal pain in the ass as the mini compressors i had didn't work for sh**.Finally got them in and figured, ok the worst is over NOT!!!!, i had just begun!Put my 95 stang spindle on and went to bolt up the ride control strut on my TC,the lower strut bolt would not line up,huuuu??Found out the 5/8" washers i bought were hitting the strut,ok so i cut a flat edge on them, solved that problem.Next when i bolted up the strut and tried turning the spindle lock to lock it wouldn't go very far forward????????The ride control struts on a TC must be longer at the bottom than mustang or stock bird units cause mine where right next to the control arms and hit when turning the wheel forward(FUC*!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!).Well i thought that was it for the conversion right there, then i though i'm just not putting the old back on.Out came the cutoff tool again and i cut about 1/4" off the bottom of the strut and smoothed it off with a grinding stone.Next problem solved,so i bolt up the rest of the components(brake calipers, rotors etc)and i find out my left side brake line will not fit the caliper WTF!!!!!!!!!!The right side goes on mint(ledge is on the bottom of the caliper)(left side the ledge is on the top and both of my brake hoses are the same)well thinking that i'm now screwed out comes the cutoff tool again and i cut the ledge off the top of the caliper and bolted up my brake line.Trying to bleed the system was a pain in the ass too as the front lines were empty from being open so long. After trying to bleed it i finally got steady streams of fluid from both front calipers but the pedal was on the floor(dam abs)so i turned on the key and let the pump, pump up.Still no pedal, pumped it some more and let it pump up again, finally my mechanic buddy says he's getting a pedal.Called it quits for the night as the sales department closes up the dealer at 9pm.Alignment brake check and abs sensors to be hooked up and done at 6:30am tommorow morning before i start work,o well no sleeping in for me.After all that, the car does sit and look mint but what a pain in the ass,has no one converted a TC to sn95 and kept the TC stuff intact?????Am i the first????O and to top it all off i need a set of front sway bar links(top bushings are damaged)will it never end. Also i'm thinking of changing my "outer" tie rod ends, are the sn95 outer ends longer than the fox ones????????????? You'll also have to change the inner tie rods. SN95 = MetricFox = SAE Quote Selected

SN-95 conversion NIGHTMARE!! Reply #3 – October 16, 2007, 10:24:01 PM You don't have to, the stock ones work fine, just figured if i could get a few more threads on there it would be better but there's still quite a few.So i can't use the sn95 stuff unless i swap both(good to know)but the inners do bolt upto the rack yes?? SN-95 conversion NIGHTMARE!! Reply #4 – October 16, 2007, 10:30:11 PM Yes.How much thread engagement do you have? You want ~1.5X the diameter (which is 1.5x9/16 = ~.85") Quote Selected
well now.. Reply #5 – October 17, 2007, 08:43:06 AM a friend went through the same problem, he ended up changing the front struts to aftermarket ones then the process went pretty straight forward from there. he used the weight of the car and spring compressors to get the springs back in. SN-95 conversion NIGHTMARE!! Reply #6 – October 17, 2007, 10:55:04 AM Well not changing out my struts, love having the ability to change from soft to firm, kinda like being a man LOL!!!Anyhoo i finished bleeding the brakes this morning, hooked up my rewired abs sensors and did my alignment. All is now well, abs works perfect,my ride control is intact and she is at the perfect ride height. My left front camber is at 2.2degrees positive but i just couldn't be bothered to drill out the rivet and set it this morning. All the right side angles are mint and my right front caster is good, surprising after dropping it 1/2 an inch but she drives straight and i'm happy.I'll realign it eventually but for now she's good.Next week will be new sway bar links and then the front end will be done.So just a recap for all those wanting to convert there TC and keep abs/ride control:The front struts must be shaved at the bottom about a 1/4" and u must use and rewire(connectors are different) the front abs sensors from the 94-95 stang. SN-95 conversion NIGHTMARE!! Reply #8 – October 17, 2007, 12:12:01 PM Not sure to be honest but they look like the rear ones from the TC and they do work as i tested them this morning witrh no codes after my drive. If the mustang sensors were not reading or the tooth setup was wrong i would have gotten an abs light right away and i didn't.
