Do the hood springs wear out? October 10, 2007, 11:22:56 PM Do the hood springs streatch over time? I've been trying to get the back of the hood down because the last 1/3 of the hood isn't flush with the fender. I've loosened the bolts and adjusted the hinges as far down as they will go. It hasen't worked. I can push down on the hood and it levels out but the hinges are already adjusted all the way down. So are my springs bad? Quote Selected

Do the hood springs wear out? Reply #2 – October 11, 2007, 12:08:23 AM I do believe that the springs are fine just the rest of the parts are showing the wear from being under the load all the time. Just like those chevy pickup hoods. They never seem to be down all the way in the back. Quote Selected

Do the hood springs wear out? Reply #4 – October 11, 2007, 03:22:37 AM I have a similar problem right now w/one side I had the hood off the car so I could put the engine in but in the mean time the car sat w/no hood on for about 2 months:hick: at first I thought it was rusted or just plain use to being open I couldn’t figure it out then I noticed the side that went down fine had a bolt in it w/a rubber/plastic piece on the end and when the hood shuts it push’s down on the metal under the hood in the compartment mechanically holding the hood down. Ill know this for sure when I get one from a J/Y and it works that’s the best I could tell you for now sounds like you have the same problem about a ¼ inch.P.S I wonder how that part is missing the car sitting in front of my house w/no engine or hood maybe someone stole it. What is my car the local pick and pull? There lucky I didn’t catch them:beatyoass: . Quote Selected
