Brake booster is leaking internally and from the sounds of it you may also need a master, replace both to be safe, they are over 20yrs old.
Also since your getting a shutter when slowing down it sounds as if you need front rotors(warped).

sounds like you have a couple of problems ill adress each individually.

THe pssssssssss sound is more then likey your power brake booster is leaking internally it is pretty common to see in higher milage cars or ones that do alot of sitting.Or from one that has a leaking master cylinder causing fluid to be sucked into the booster via the seal this will kill the booster diaphram.

Now your shaking could be a few things.

You either have some runout (warpage) in your rotors or drums, loose caliper bolts, defective rear hardware (springs) causing the shoes to "stick",worn wheel bearings can also add to the mix.

now for your fading brake pedal
It is more then likely a bad master cylinder There alot of ways to test it but the most common sign is leakage from the rear of the bore were it bolts onto the brake booster. If it isnt leaking there you need to invest in a set of "line locks" you can get these at any major autoparts store what you will do is place these on all your cars rubber brake lines to put an extra load on the master cylinder after you do this you will get in the car and mash the brake pedal if the pedal goes to the floor you have found your problem if it doesnt go down try starting the car this will add a little more pressure and if it goes to the floor you found you have a bad master cylinder.

Sorry for the ramble it is hard to explain this stuff over the internet
.I deal with these issues every so i hope this can help you.
