Nice Box Fox. Are those TRX wheels? I'd never been a big fan of the 80-82 Birds, but it seems that every time I see a nice one they come up several notches in my esteem. It probably helps that the boxy look is so rare to see nowadays, now that all the K-cars and G-bodies have rusted away. I really like 'em now, and I'm actually at the point I'd like to have one, but it'd be near impossible to find a decent one around here...

Ron: I don't know how Ford did it in those cars, but when we install radios in undercover police cars there's a module that goes between the factory radio and factory antenna, and the police radio plugs into that module. I was gonna snag one in case I ever wanted to install a CB in the 'Bird, but didn't bother because the new ones are all meant for the digital 900MHz frequency that newer police radios use.

88turbo, I just sent a PM

1wld brd, Along with the car I got the factory electrical manual which has all the diagrams for how its set up, I can get you a copy if you want.

Thunder Chicken, yes they are TRX wheels, Actually the car came with whitewall Michelin TRX tires which are n/l/a. Right now it has blackwall TRX's but the guy had the correct whitewall TRX's which are on another set of those rims so I have a set for driving and the correct set for shows. When this bodystyle was new I really didnt like it either but over time it has grown on me, I guess since you just dont see many. Between my dad and myself we have had 35 Birds and atleast one of every series except the 80-82 so considering that along with it being a special anniversary one just had to get it.

I have to say, I've never been a huge fan of pre-Aero Fox Birds, but this T-Bird is pretty shagy.

Yeah, it has to be a special type of antenna.  A normal antenna can only pick up signals.  A CB antenna has to be a two way antenna to both pick up signals and transmit signals.  If it's not it will blow up the CB.  I'm also curious as to how this works.  I got a nice CB for my bird and it would be cool to use it without the whip.

That was a nice find for sure. I'm not a big fan of the box foxes either but that is one that I would definitely not turn my nose up to. The color scheme works beautifully with the amount of chrome and style of the car.

OK, I have no idea how the hell I missed this the first time around.

You mentioned another '80 as well in the other thread?

The old C&D article on these (the tested car had the Recaros) was what turned up my interest in the Box Foxes.

Chuck:
As soon as it gets here I will let you know. I dont know much about this one as it was a car I bought without ever seeing it($200) All I know is that it was from an estate sale and it has around 40k miles. The guy that had it till I bought it had driven it for the past couple years and it started acting up(from what he says it sounds like a plugged cat) but he was going to crush it if it didnt sell so I felt compelled to save it. I bought it back in January but it was buried in a storage place up in Maine.
