I got the ULTIMATE compliment on my Cougar. September 16, 2007, 02:03:29 PM Ok so I was out to lunch with my co-workers on Friday and we went to a really expensive place...one of those places where the wine list is larger than the menu and a lunch entree is $15 or more. The parking lot was valet only, something I really hate. There were late model BMWs, MBs, Audis and Lexi all over the place. When I finished and walked out, my Cougar wasn't with all the other cars...it was parked in the single parking space in front of the restaurant. That's right, a 1988 Mercury Cougar schooled all the Euro-trash in a test of style in the most fashion-conscious part of town.Keep up the faith people, sooner or later we'll turn as many heads as those py 1960s Muscle cars. :) Quote Selected
I got the ULTIMATE compliment on my Cougar. Reply #1 – September 16, 2007, 02:31:06 PM That's awesome, Jeeves! You gotta love it. Obviously the valet recognized a very nice older car and treated it with respect. That alone is killer...but in the face of all the Euro cars, it means even more. About 8 years ago I was in Virginia Beach for a (Mustang) car show and drove the convertible to meet a friend at a seafood restaurant in a bay, with valet parking. This was also an expensive place...I think the bill for my meal alone was somewhere near $100. Anyway, I was leaving and went to get the car, and it's parked right in front of the building, between a Porsche and a Benz. The key tag was marked "Cougar GT". That made a nice souvenir! The valet told me it was "too nice" to park in with the other cars. It was an awesome feeling. He got a good tip. Quote Selected

I got the ULTIMATE compliment on my Cougar. Reply #10 – September 16, 2007, 07:06:03 PM Nice!I keep a 1987 Thunderbird dealership brochure on my desk at work and a co-worker commented on Friday that that they're really pretty cars and he could understand why people keep them. Those cars had personality. Quote Selected

Not in the land of SUVs and pickups...every parking space is big in Texas. Thanks for the props guys. What's amazing is that the car needs paint and interior work, but hey...its still shiny red and it looks pretty sittin on '93 Cobra rims. Quote Selected
