Parting out '84 T-Bird

I just picked this up for the tires, they were pretty much brand new. I'm also going to be taking the new intake, otherwise everything else is up for grabs. Lots of parts left on it that are decent if anybody wants them. I'm letting everyone here have first dibs, then I'll be stripping what I feel is worth any value, putting the stuff on e-bay and will be sending the rest of it to the crusher. I just have too many parts cars kicking around. I've attached some pic's to give you an idea of what's left rather than listing a bunch of stuff that may not be of interest anyways. I can send more pic's via e-mail if needed. Let me know, thanks,

Actually, it's a dark blue, funny it does kind of look charcoal in the picture. Manual drivers side mirror, no mirror on the passenger side. El plain janeo! It does have a sunroof but it definitely looks aftermarket judged by the screw job from the interior, but I could be wrong. I just don't recall my other '84 that I had with the sunroof looking like this one but maybe that one was aftermarket.

Were Cougars without passenger side mirrors rare or am I sadly mistaken?  I doubt a car that has so little options that it doesn't have a pass mirror would have a sunroof.

Well, this is the other '84 that I had. No passenger side mirror and had the sunroof. Now, maybe both were aftermarket but how can one tell if it is?

I honestly dont think you could exceed the cost of a new car buy installing new *stock* parts everywhere in your coug our tbird. Its just plain impossible. You could revamp the entire drivetrain/engine/suspenstion and still come out ahead.

A standard base Cougar/T-Bird (and sometimes some of the upper level cars) came with just one mirror--driver's--which was manual. A block-off plate was then put on the passenger side. In case the buyer changed his/her mind after buying the car, Ford did offer a manaul passenger side mirror kit to be installed later. So if you see dual manual mirrors on one of these cars, that's how it happened...there was no factory dual manual mirror option.

Otherwise, dual power mirrors were a very popular option, sometimes in a PEP (preferred equipment package) or sometimes along with another required option, like vent windows. I'd guess at least 75% of cars sold between 1983-86 had dual power mirrors, if not more.

I didnt even know they had the option of having only 1 rearview mirror, weird.

Owch on the gold '84... Were you in that?

And why not try and sell the car whole? Not trying to interfere with your business or anything... Doesnt look too bad. (about as bad as mine when i got it) And i hate seeing these cars get crushed, heh.

That was me driving the gold '84 when that happened. I was in the hospital for a week, that was back in '96. That thing was pretty f'd up. Salvaged the engine out of it though and have it in my Comet. As for selling the blue Bird whole, no, the left front rail is up along with needing a left fender, header panel, getting the engine running again as the wiring has been hacked along with either getting a carb for it or retroing the fuel injection into it.

You can spot a factory sunroof by the way it's installed in the roof. The factory sunroofs sit in a recessed tray that's stamped into the roof at the factory. They will have no visible outer frame, save for the frame around the glass. The glass should be nearly flush with the roof metal.
Aftermarket units are usually easy to spot. The quickest way is to see if it has an exposed outer frame that sits on top of the sheet metal.
