I hate mice !!

Does anyone know for sure if I can use a HVAC unit out of any ‘85-’88 Cougar/Thunderbird with EATC or are they specific to certain years?
I know the later panel controls are different but for originality sake, I want to keep my ’85 style panel.

Thanks,

Brent

(heating, ventilation, air conditioning)

That's unfortunate, Brent. Did they get the vacuum lines?
What else have you started working on?

From what I've seen the boxes are all the same.  The bosses for the servos are on lever controlled boxes..

It looks look like they were just in the unit itself, luckily there doesn't appear to be any other damage. The engine & trans are currently out of the car as well, so they didn't have much to play with outside of the interior.

It would be more accurate to tell you what I haven't touched on the car. It has been off the road for far too long, and I need to get it done but life has got in the way. I am way to picky and want everything to be perfect so that has also slowed the progress quite a bit. I keep telling myself each year that I will have it done in the spring but...

I believe we are in the very same boat.
While you have a much longer relationship with your '85, I think I have the same passion for my '86 as you have for yours.
I'd like to hit at least 90% completion on my '86 by late spring. This means new paint (factory scheme), restored wheels, restored trim, and plenty of mechanical repairs.
Post your progress on the forums and I'll do the same.

Sorry for the hijack.

I hate them too!  We restored my dad's '69 Mach a couple winters ago and found a freakin' community behind the dash...  We found two live mice and a elderly mouse carcass, not to mention a plethora of mice sh*t.  Hope everything works out!

lol - I spent a long time after seeing that mess dissassembling my unit and vacuuming every last bit of insulation out of mine (they brought in insulation from the garage roof.) I hate mice with a passion.

And that's one reason I've been holding off taking apart the Fairlane. Mice holes in the headliner, in the seats,  falling from under the dash... I'm frightened of what I'll find in there.

"Our" twentieth anniversary is coming up fast so it would be nice to have it back on the road again for 2008.
I am really looking forward to making a visit to the previous (original) owner someday. He really didn't want to sell it, but was forced to in order to generate a down payment on a house. I'm sure he will be pleasantly surprised to see it again and know that it didn't end up getting trashed.
I will post anything significant in the Rides section as I make some progress.
I would really like to see yours as well.

After I did a quick cleaning last night, there were four carcasses in there. Luckily the flapper door was closed so they didn't get into the fan or any farther than the cowl inlet.

I think since I know this unit was good, I will take it apart and give it a good scrubbing with a bleach based solution and try re-using it instead.

Thanks everyone for the help.
