trunk question.... Reply #1 – September 10, 2007, 04:25:00 PM those are to help the trunk open. Without them, you will have to hold the trunk up, and its not gonna pop open, there would be nothing to move the trunk. The weight of the trunk lid once those are removed will surprise you. trunk question.... Reply #2 – September 10, 2007, 04:41:41 PM It wouldn't be hard to fab up a couple of supports and install some weak struts.I say "weak" because the trunk lid isn't very heavy. Quote Selected
trunk question.... Reply #3 – September 10, 2007, 04:57:29 PM I was only going by experience with my brothers escort, I figured because the t bird is older it might be heavier. All i know is they hurt when they fall on your head.... Quote Selected

trunk question.... Reply #5 – September 10, 2007, 05:55:30 PM I'm going to be doing that (removal of torsion rods) to my car too. I have a set of struts from a fiberglass canopy of mine that got wrecked in the last storm we had here. Just got to get around to doing it. Quote Selected

trunk question.... Reply #8 – September 11, 2007, 07:08:47 PM Not heavy, you must be kidding.I had to take mine out a few years back for my subbox and that trunk lid is dam heavy. You'd need some fairly decent hatch struts to lift it.If someone ever comes up with a design i'd love to see it.Right now i'm using a 3/4" piece of mdf cut to the proper length that i put between the corner of my trunk lid and the inner body lip of my trunk to hold it up.It works but is kind of crude.
