Eric, are you atlking about the ranger dew wipes that we can modify or actual T-bird dew wipes?? I haven't seen anything but the ranger ones.

No, the ones mentioned in that article are universal but are correct for the 1983-86 Cougar/T-Bird. At JC Whitney (http://www.jcwhitney.com) is it p/n WG819745T.

Can you elaborate? (especially since I have an '87)

The dew wipes on 1987-88 cars were molded into the window trim, presumably to cut costs but also because of the flush glass. The 1983-86 cars (and all Mark VII's) are two piece, where the dew wipe can be separated from the trim and be replaced. I have never found a good solution for 1987-88 cars, other than swapping trim from a car with better dew wipes.

I've never actually seen an 87-88 car with bad dew wipes. They seem to last forever :dunno:

I've lost a short section (1-1/4") of the driver's side so I'm looking to replace it if possible.

Oddly enough the ones that came off the '83 bird vent window doors seem nearly perfect, However this:

concerns me.

It looks like some kind of tensioner or something, Kind of a felty material? is this really needed? It was a bit rusty on the posted guide as well... And i didnt see him put them back on or replace them.

Mine are original and in great condition.  This article makes me want to pull my vertical moldings and re-paint them though.

I didn't put those back on my doors and didn't have any problems with the lining up or anything.  That was the only trick parts of the whole thing. I tried to reuse them but it didn't work out to well.

The 1987-88 owners, though...you're screwed big time.

I guess I shouldn't have taken that set of 88 ones and modded them to work on my 84.
