83 - 86 power seat track same as 88? Reply #3 – September 08, 2007, 08:57:54 AM They are a little different....but they do interchange. The seat bolts to the frame the same way. Seat belt hookups are slightly different. Quote Selected

83 - 86 power seat track same as 88? Reply #5 – September 08, 2007, 11:18:27 AM I'm not 100" sure about 87-88, but I know on the 83-8 cars the seat belt bolts to the seat track with a big ass torx bolt. It will physicaly drop in, plug in, and work though Quote Selected

It might bug me just knowing its not the right track for the year of car...1987-88 on the top, 1983-86 on the bottom. The 1987-88 seatbelts just hook on that back tab, then are bolted to the seat track. Probably made it easier to assemble the seat. The 1983-86 seatbelts have a small tab just underneath the bolt hole; that's what the slot in that seat track is for.In reality, either seat belt can be bolted to either frame (with the tab on the 1983-86 seat belt just bent down). The T-50 Torx bolt is what holds it in place. Quote Selected
83 - 86 power seat track same as 88? Reply #7 – September 08, 2007, 02:27:55 PM hahaha, that's so awesome! thanks for the pic Eric! I think, since I have one lined up anyway I'll just pay the extra for shipping for the 87-88 track rather than getting the 83-86 locally... I'm just picky like that! Quote Selected
83 - 86 power seat track same as 88? Reply #8 – September 10, 2007, 08:15:01 PM looks like if you lined the actual track up in the pic the seatbelt bolts hole would line up horizontally in space...? So my belt would bolt up ok... What about my trim? And what about markvii tracks... Anyone know if a pair of those would bolt to my seats and car and if all the wiring/ switches would be plug and play (including power lumbar)? Just curious cause I saw a few at the yard... 83 - 86 power seat track same as 88? Reply #9 – September 10, 2007, 08:23:38 PM It should fit the seats just fine. I think the floor *may* be different as mustang tracks are different. Quote Selected
83 - 86 power seat track same as 88? Reply #10 – December 04, 2007, 01:39:28 AM Well, got my first newly upholstered seat (looks amazing, total class)!! I'll post pics in a new thread soon but one more question on this topic...Is it possible that the back of the ealier seat tracks didn't drop as low as the 88 tracks I had? I got my drivers seat in (with an 85 power track)... all the directions work but when I lower the back side as low as it goes I feel like I'm sitting WAY higher than where I was with my broke-ass 88 seat that didn't go down in the rear... Is this possible? Quote Selected

Is this possible? It's not your imagination. I do believe that the 1987-88 tracks allowed for a little more travel, both backward and downward. That's been my experience anyway. Quote Selected
