I think I'll drop the 5.0 in it and sell off the go-fast 2.3 goodies separate.

Once again I think it is a test that Turbo Coupes put us thru. They know they need to be taken care of. So they feel the need to make it hard on us. It just seems to me to many give up. What are you a Quitter? If so why aren't you in rehab with the rest of the quitters. Why not fix it up right. There have been many treads  over at turboford explaining how to mod the Aux shaft to help out the design. Then for make 100% sure you don't have the HV oil pump. I've been there done that. It sucks but you gotta do what you gotta do.

That inline six is making what, 125hp at best??? It should run forever with annual maintance...

The 200 in my fairmont was rated somewhere between 85 and 92 horsepower. 8:1 comp, 7 mains, usually owned by grandmas, yeah they should go forever. Plus I6's are naturally balanced so theres no worries there.

But seriously, built with good parts(and stay away from a HV oil pump, not needed anyway), I don't see a problem with a 2.3T at 250/275Hp...

You said it man. Attempting to make north of 300HP in a 4-Cyl designed in the late 60's as a fuel economy lump and then drive it everyday is just insane. I've had my fun, but it's time to go back into the real world of V8's (this coming from one of the staunchest 2.3 supporters at that).

I do have a stock 2.3T laying around and an IHI. I could probably cobble it all back together and get Layla back to factory stock. Then I can sell it. And the go-fast stuff. And the 5.0. And all the parts. And buy something I really want!!! (Or maybe Ted has another Caddy motor...)

I sold my 350 :hick:

I do still have the AMC 401 though :D

And aren't you stabbing a sweet TT302 into a TC? ;)

God I have the utmost respect for you 2.3 guys I could never deal with that garbage. I have a very low tolerance level for putting work in and getting nothing back. Obviously the 2.3 has potential for power output but for me personally it wouldn't be worth it.

MAN I love my big v8. You would too....just sign here. LOL :D  [Bon Scott]"Come right in, forget about him, well have ourselves a ball...."[\Bon Scott]

Actually the 2.3 Lima was designed in the early 70s... First saw light of day in the '74 Double Mistakes and Pintos(I've owned both)... It's sorta based on the German EAO 2.0 OHC engine, but shares no common parts... That engine was used in the '71-'73 Pintos(along with the Kent 1.6L OHV engine),was dropped after '74... The Ranger 2.0 & 2.5 are shrunk/stretched 2.3s...

70's fuel economy lump then.

All I know is that I'm never going to modify one again.

Maybe John isn't so nuts for trying to stuff an LS1/T56 into his 88 TC...
