found my a/c problem August 20, 2007, 02:27:00 PM the upper line going into the back of the compressor was just hanging next to the compressor. :hick: i'll be taking the car to a local a/c shop to be converted to 134 when i get the motor back in. Quote Selected

found my a/c problem Reply #5 – August 20, 2007, 03:08:20 PM With r134, my a/c gets COLD (unbearable to have it aimed at me) after about half an hour, on max. Its cooler than outside air right away, and comfortable enough, but it doesn't compare to the original r12. I think I need to upgrade the condenser as it already has new lines, compressor, oil and is charged properly. I'd stick with r12.The electric fan off or running on high barely makes a difference. found my a/c problem Reply #6 – August 20, 2007, 03:19:51 PM i had r12 in the ranger before the turbo motor swap. it got COLD. i parked the truck in an open parking lot that was just repaved with new blacktop on a cloudless 100* day. with the a/c on full blast after an hour it was 36* in my truck. no lie. now, i've had more cars then i can count with r134. it doesn't get anywhere near that cold, but i don't need it that cold. 134 will do just fine... besides, it's SOOOOooooooo much cheaper and easier to find.i'll be getting the system inspected, converted, and charged for less then $300 (a local shop that buys parts from me.).
