Cleaned up some under hood August 06, 2007, 02:03:50 PM Here are a few pics from me cleaning under hood. It may be a repost to a few people pics wise, but I have a question. When I was cleaning the strut towers, firewall, inner fenders..... the paint kept coming off and I was left with a grey primer I assume. I didn't use any harsh cleaners( a rag, dawn with bleach and a scrubbie pad for the really tough sticky black stuff) and paint still came off. It doeasn't apear to pour out any oil, and that may be from when I pulled the water pump and just didn't clean all the fluid off or something. I'll know soon. Quote Selected

Cleaned up some under hood Reply #4 – August 06, 2007, 06:12:37 PM Around the intake was from when I pulled the radiator hose. As for the oil leak it was the old seal from the timing chain to oil pan. All it cleaned up now. Dizzy o ring was replaced. What color should the underhood area be painted? Oppions? Quote Selected

I'm going to mount one in front of the radiator like the later V8 cars.As for the color I may try to "wash off" all the white paint and leave it grey primer. Then again kinda like the body color white as well. It really sets off the underhood. Atleast it's something pretty to look at Quote Selected
Cleaned up some under hood Reply #8 – August 06, 2007, 07:02:44 PM Hmm, Sounds good.The reason i say it isn't the best choice is because the dirt likes to cling to the white and make it grungy looking. :hick:Yah, I was thinking primer too for mine, So i could do small areas as i went along.Then it will already be mostly prepped.And later i could pull the engine and junk out, And paint the whole thing up nice. Even if I just rebuild it it has to come out and I can weld all the holes and paint it. Just looking for a solution now as it looks worse with grey and white area's then it did covered in dirtLook near the header, you see ALOT of grey ptimer color I gave up my loosing battle underhood and cleaned up the rest of the car a bit as well.
