the infamous "ohio trip".

So, 25+ hours after we left Friday night, gunnar, Hoop (Travis), myself, and a friend that we work with rolled back into KC with my new car.

I've got to say that I've never been creeped out quite like I was in Effingham, IL.  We stopped at 3 AM to grab McDonalds, and the place was straight out of a horror movie.  It was a really nice building but we had a counter boy on meth who was really creepy, a larger toothy lady who's tit fell out of her shirt while i was ordering, a huge sweaty fat guy who was making our food, a cross dresser, two "bro's" in pink polos who were actually gay, and a well-dressed fellow who looked like he was going to stab both gunnar and I when we asked what town we were in.

I was honestly expecting to come outside to find that the G6 was being towed away and that we were going to have to stay there to find help.  All 4 of us got a reeeaaaaallly bad vibe from that town.

Not to mention, when you come around the corner on I-70 to start into Effingham, you're greeted by this:

We forgot our cameras but I did snap a few phone shots along the way.

First off, at our first gas station stop in which it took me and the attendant about 30 minutes to figure out how to pump gas into my car:

The kid i got his car from had this shirt on, and it was sort of awkward trying to take a picture hoping he wouldn't turn around.

Jesus, it's just that easy!

A kid's sticker at a Taco Bell somewhere in Ohio:

Indiana business man Tom Raper:

These signs were all over.

The sweet rides where we stopped at one point to get a part:

My friend Paul making the most of the downtime between travis and i working on the car:

The view on the G6 that gunnar was behind the wheel of for a good majority of the trip both ways:

It said that when we left KC in the beginning.  :lol2:

The most common sight of the trip:

The car kept blowing the IC silicon coupler off everytime i would put my foot into it.  Every time we fixed it, Paul and gunnar would try to guess how long it'd be until we pulled over again.

And finally, I-70 in St. Louis:

A SUV (Blazer or Tahoe, one of those sort) had rolled HARD on the bridge going over the river.  Traffic was backed up for miles and miles, to the point where people were outside of their cars walking around.

That's all I've got.  gunnar got maybe 3 hours of sleep on the trip, and travis and i got even less than that.  It's time to sleep until Monday.  :lol2:

it was worth it though.  the car is in great condition, and after the minor issues are taken care of, it should be a great daily driver.

Where in Ohio were you? Coulda stopped by cat jam, and we could have taken care of that intercooler problem.
It's Gumby's fault.

lol!  gunnar (the fat bald guy) thought that was funny as could be!

so far, so good with the car.  i've fixed all the oil leaks.  there's a leak in the radiator core that still needs to be fixed.  i've rerouted the crank case breather so it no longer consumes oil.  the a/c is next.  i took the spoiler and the led third brake light off (just not my style), now i need to buy a new deck lid (you drilled some gnarly  looking holes in it.).

i'm sure more will come up being that it's a 20 year old turbo ford, but i promise that it won't be something that i can't fix.

please don't be mad when you discover that those bills were all counterfeit. :D

good deal.  the valve cover and the oil feed line was leaking on both ends.  if you want, i'll send the wing back to you so you can mount it on your 83.  lol.

first off, there's no way in HELL i'm going to drive that far for a trunk lid... now, if you want to give me a turbocoupe for $20, that'd be worthwhile.  otherwise, i'll just make a trip to the local junk yard.  second, regardless of the color, it'll have to be repainted.  the color of my car is a general motors color and it's a fairly fresh paint job... i don't like multicolor cars. lol.

ha.. to be honest, it's not exactly my style either.  i liked it ok when i had the cobra's on the car.  but the snowflakes aren't exactly agressive looking and to throw on a wing like that just didn't fit the car.  IMO though, i thought the wing fit nicely and followed the lines of the car suprisingly well.

i'll gladly ship it back to you for a nominal fee so that you can install it on the 83.:D
