Ebay coil-overs

Anyone have any experience with this front coil-over kit? I’m considering getting it for my t-bird. Also, will these fit my KYB GR-2 struts? and will the included 14/175 springs hold up such a heavy front end?

Thanks for any help, Cya.

You'll need to get an ID of the threaded sleeves too and do some measuring of your struts.  The KYB bodies are usually pretty fat.

Again, as mentioned..what are your plans for the car?

I'm intrested to see how this turns out. If they will work from a mustang they * might* work on our cars shouldn't they?

My plans for the bird are to build it for drag racing. The whole reason I’m switching to coil-overs in the front is because I bought a tubular k-member and was planning on using ‘03 cobra control arms but I just found out that it was designed for tubular control arms only.

I measured my KYB’s and they were 2 ¼” which is what the kit calls for, so that’s fine. But I’m still unsure about the springs.

Right now I’ve got some steelies off of a fox mustang, just for rolling it around the garage. I will be switching to 5 lug when I put the new front suspension together. I’ll probably end up using some OEM wheels from a SN95 mustang.

Make sure that 2-1/4" is the ID of the threaded sleeve and not the springs....

Ok, according to the seller, 2 ¼” is the I.D. of the threaded sleeve. He also confirmed that the sleeves have the cut-outs at the bottom to fit over KYB GR-2s. But I still have no clue how much of a drop to expect from the included springs (14/175) … Anyone?

If it's a coil over, can't you "tune" the drop of the car?

I believe so, *shrug* although I’m not sure how much adjustability you have in either direction.

Another question, some kits have a set screw in the adjuster ring (or whatever you call it) to lock the position, the kit I’m looking at doesn’t. Will I have to constantly adjust the ride height? What keeps it in place?

A 14" spring is really long which is appropriate for the 175 spring rate I would say, it should be fine.  Now as far as the reliability of the kit, you never know with cheap stuff like that, or how long the threaded collars and adjusting rings will last.  If you won't drive it on the street much or at all then it would probably be fine.  A lot of people say that cheaper kits can make more noise than higher quality ones.
