Pics of the Cougar

Hey all, I thought I'd start off my first post as an introduction.
Name's Joe, I'm 17 from Florida. I first bought her for $200 from a friend and she was running beautifully. She's a 1988 XR-7:cougarsmily:

The locker was locking and the AOD was actually shifting.

Since then I had a heater hose blow and me and well, needless to say, she overheated and I blew the headgaskets. So they are in the process of being pulled and being sent out to a machine shop to make sure they will mate flush with the block.

She's not the prettiest cat, but she gets the job done for $200, I do have plans to convert to mass air and hopefully do a whole top-end conversion to HO standards.

Here are some before the blown head gasket syndrome.

...and last but not least, a bit of Photochopping action.
Before:

...and what I would want it to look like from the rear, no pinstripe, emblems, trunk key hole, or the Cougar emblem in the reverse lights.

A chop from my buddy:hick:

Hey another new member! Man if you paid $200 for that car then I got ripped off! I paid $2,500 for mine and it has more rust, its not an XR7 and its not black!

The trunk looks great like that, I'm getting my trunk shaved soon. The lights look great without the Cougar symbol but I don't know if it would work, you'd have to ask Eric about that one.

Anyway welcome and I hope you enjoy your new Cat!

Haha, thanks man.

I doubt the lights would work due to the lacking of reverse lights.

I would still like the emblem off so they would look flush^_^

You can't see it, but on the passenger 1/4 panel, there is a big dent and rust spots/holes that have sence been taken care of.

My buddy who has a camera is getting back from germany I'll have to take some new pics.

Recently the pinstripe has been removed and I painted little things like the door side molding since it was flaking off.
Soon she'll get some mroe dents out and wet-sanded.

Thanks for the kind words man, I appreciate it.

Question: Can a warped head allow water to leak into the cylinders without having a blown headgasket?

I assume yes, because everytime the car was shutoff I ha dcompression in the cylinders...

Welcome, nice '88.

Since you pulled the heads off, you should grab yourself a set of E7 HO heads. ;)

I would've liked to, but my shiznitty smog heads are going back on, I don't have time to wait for shipping of the purchased heads seeing as she has to be running before we move out...Dad got the house in the divorce but my mom got a good chunk of money for it.

If I go with different heads it will be aftermarket:hick:
