I've just gotta be me... (new DD pics inside)

I tried and could just not bring myself to buy a small car. I've always liked big cars, but figured that I'd get something smaller to save gas.

To hell with it. I tried several small cars out - Saturns, Hyundais, Civics, an Accord, and, God help me, I even looked at a few J-bodies. And I didn't like ANY of 'em. Everything that was half decent was too ed expensive, and everything that was cheap was junk. Even the good ones just weren't my style.

Then I found out about this car. It is the exact opposite of what I was looking for. I was looking for a small four-cylinder, 5-speed car. What I ended up with was a huge, 8-cyl car.

Huge, as in 1996 Lincoln Town Car Executive Series. I bought it from an 80 year old man. It has never seen snow (the guy garaged it and flew to Cuba every winter - he actually married a Cuban woman and was selling it because he's moving there), has only some minor parking-lot type dings in it, and a mint grey leather interior. The 4.6 runs like a new one, and everything works except the cruise. Brand new safety sticker, working A/C, and leather guts, all for $2k. And what I lost in floatiness in the T-Bird with the lowering springs and poly bushings I more than made up for with this thing - it's like driving your living room couch down the road. On our rough roads the smoothness is certainly appreciated. And believe it or not, it is EPA rated at the same fuel mileage as the T-Bird, and BETTER than the Volvo. Real world driving has so far revealed highway mileage of 27-28 MPG, an improvement over the Volvo's 24-25.

I know it's not the 30-40 MPG shiznitbox I was threatening to buy, and yes, I know you all think I'm crazy. And now, without further adieu, I present my new daily driver:

2015 Mustang GT Premium - 5.0, 6-speed, Guard Green - too much awesome for one car

LMAO. That's funny, and very true. I would beat the daylights out of any small millage car. They seem so cramped. I drove the new 99 cougar when it came out, boy did I ever feel claustrophobic. A tiny bit on the big side for me, I don't like the boat feeling, but when it comes to being a passenger, ooh la la, those cars are VERY, VERY sweet to ride in. Nice purchase. ;)

The 'couch' statement makes me miss my quarter-million-mile, floaty Grand Marquis.

Ditto with Brian. The Vic is like riding on a nice, red cloth couch. Springs are shot to hell in it though so ride is a bit too soft

Nice, get some centercaps though.  I rode home from a friends power hour in whatever year town car most taxi companies use these days the other night, and it was seriously the most comfy back seat ever, so I know how that feels and it's great.

The bird is going to be awfully small when you get back in to drive it.

Nice buy.

Couldn't you have found something a little easier on gas? Like an ocean liner.

That's pretty pimpin, Carmen. My father in law just got an emerald green '03 Vic, and that thing is a dream to ride in. It's still a lot of car, though. :P
