I need some help. I need to know how much "realistically" I can expect to sell my car for. I'm not looking for feel good numbers, just the facts. Which are actually opinions but whatever. You know what I mean.

:D

An opportunity has presented itself that I must take advantage. It doesn't require selling the TC but it would definitely help. I'm not 100% intending to sell I'm just weighing all my options. Here is the info.

>>Extras
I have lots of extra parts that I haven't put on yet or they are just sitting around in my garage. Not sure if I would include them with the 87TC.

>>The Bad
Rust. In all the typical TC places. Fenders, bottom of doors, around the gas tank area and the ****ing strut tower.

Fender Bender. Previous owner hit a deer (I think, I need to check the carfax) and the passenger fender is damaged near the header panel to the cornering lamp. Which is missing. Has a half-assed repair attempt.

Dent. There is a fairly large dent in the rear driver's quarter panel.

Color. Trunklid is Red, Car is not.

Paint. Sucks. Dull, metal deep scratches.

Oil. Leaks oil, need catch can setup ASAP.

Fuel. Leaks fuel from the Gas Tank area. I'm assuming it's the lines. Those will be replaced soon.

Rubbing. Rubbing at all four corners. Need to dial in more camber in the front (and possibly 235s) and roll the rears.

Interior. Ok, but not the best.

Factory Hood Hinge broke so I replaced it with one without the springs. Save some weight.  :D

No ABS.

>>The Good

After the engine was replaced (blown headgasket+broken seized head bolt) and everything installed it runs like a champ @ 19psi. Even when the pump stopped (the 190lph) it cranked back up (eventually) and continued to run like a champ. I replaced the IRCM and I am in the process of replacing the pump now.

It handles great. Stops on a dime and sounds awesome (exhaust+turbo spool+BPV=hotness). It is a very addictive car to drive. I can't keep it out of boost.

Anyhoos, I'm sure I left something out, but that is the gist of it. Let me know what you think. Please no "you'll never get what you put in it" because I knew that before I started buying TCs.

Danke!

That's correct... Overhead You know... :hick:

Guessing $1500+... If you don't take Carmen's expenses into account...

For the amount of time, effort and $$ we put into our stuff, I'd say keep it... Of course tastes and wants change, but if there is a reasonable chance you are going to be grieving over the sale in a few weeks or months... KEEP IT... Had mine for almost 10 years now... It ain't for sale(of course stupid money would buy it, but those chances are zero and none)...

$1,500-$2,000 honestly.

If you fixed the oil and gas leaks, corrected the tire rub, and put a same-color decklid on I'd up it to $2,500.

Ok hate to sound negative. And Honestly hope you can get what these others are saying

But, you asked for
"how much "realistically" I can expect to sell my car for. I'm not looking for feel good numbers, just the facts. "

I'm thinking these other guys are throwing out "feel good numbers" as you called them.

From a generic car buyer (not a bird enthusiast) like looking for a car for my teenage daughter.....

we have here a 20 year old car
? Miles (when something is not mentioned I always assume it's nothing to brag about so I assume HIGH miles)
Rusty
Large dent
Bad and mismatched paint
Leaking oil AND fuel (wouldn’t buy it for my daughter leaking fuel)

I wouldn’t pay more than $500 for it. DEFENATLY nowhere near 4 digits ($1000+)

Sorry and don’t intend to put your car down, I don’t expect I could even get $1000+ from mine and the paint is reasonable and there’s no rust or dent’s and low (125k) miles. I REALLY hope you can, that means mine would be worth more than I think it is.

edit:
The value of these cars, even though "technically" classics hasn’t started rising yet (It will) at this point, to your normal buyer they are just old cars.

Actually,
The values have been on a steady increase over the last 2-3 years, especially on TC's. $100 parts cars are now $500 parts cars. $1000 drivers are now $2000 drivers. $5000 low mileage ones are now $10,000 low mileage ones. Notice my number jumps with a few small fixes. I'm basing my # on an eBay or TurboFord sale as an already modified car.

Well Cool, that’s good to know!!

Daboss351:
Right mind? I dunno about that, but I would think singling her out because she is a "daughter" is a bit shagist in this day and age wouldn’t you?
Thinking John Force and these “daughters” of his might agree with me as the woop they  out you in a quarter mile.

If I may highlight one of his daughters accomplishments from the link above…

Name: Ashley Force
Age: 24
Notable: Ashley was a Top 10 finisher in national points in each of her three seasons in Top Alcohol Dragster. When she won the 2004 World Finals at Pomona, Calif., she shared the winners' circle with her dad as the first father-and-daughter champions in the history of the NHRA series. Now, she has moved up to race against her father at the wheel of one of the most challenging vehicles on the planet – an 8,000 horsepower Funny Car.
And I’ll be dammed… she’s “JUST a daughter!!

Silly Boy!

p.s.
"an 8,000 horsepower Funny Car" well at least it doesent have 19lb of boost!!

Dude, the Force daughters are hot.  Lol and Hell, I'd say they probably didn't have the typical upbringing that most daughters get when it comes to cars.  We have a person at work who bought their daughter an Audi RS6 for her 16th, and about 4 months after she got it drove it into a ditch because she lost control of it....  not saying that a daughter can't own a fast car, just saying that they probably shouldn't just be handed one before being taught how it handles and whatnot.

on the street to a non-bird lover = $5-800 anything that runs is worth that.

to a TC guy id guess you could pull $12-1500 if you found the right person.

its a shame that chassis is so rough. sounds like a good combination of parts for a good, fun to drive, reliable TF. you might be ahead to part it if you had the time and energy :punchballs:
