Electrical problem on a mustang

I’m helping my brother-in law W/his 88’ mustang lx he has no blinkers or fan/blower while car is running but if you put the car on acc or run position w/car off they work, the second you try and start the car they both turn off and stay off my father-in-law feels it might be the ignition switch I’m feeling possibly a fuseable link. Either way I don’t know where to start. One more thing my brother-in-law stated this started after he jumped someone that’s why I was feeling a fuseable link.
Thank you for any help in advance.

Your father-in-law is correct. It's the ignition switch. Disconnect the battery and leave it disconnected until you replace it. The car is a ticking time bomb right now...

You can’t have been more right, not only when I changed it did it fix the problem but it was toast and the wiring harness was partially melted.
Though it was the next thing I was going to change anyway just to eliminate it. I’m still very impressed how you hit that on the money thankyou and I owe you one.

I was speaking from experience. One (slightly) burned T-Bird, two broken-down T-Birds, and a broken down Cougar :hick:
