Bogging issue - New info

Alright, so many of you have heard about the problem my car has had since the HO conversion with bogging at launch.  In case you dont remember, every once in a while (read: not every time) when I go to move from a dead stop, the car will stutter and sometimes make a popping sound.  This only happens from a dead stop or when accelerating for EXTREMELY low (sub 1000) rpms (when the AOD doesnt feel like downshifting...you AOD owners know what I'm talkin about).  Here is what we know:



- Originally, there was also an idle issue with the car.  Dad and I checked the TPS voltage today and it was quite low (0.74v).  So we turned it up to 0.9v and that seems to have fixed the idling problem.  Only more driving will tell for sure.

- There were no dead spots when we tested the TPS

- When we went to the track last night, she didnt bog AT ALL during the 4 runs.  So apparently, if you floor the car at launch, the bogging problem doesn't show itself.

- We had the car scanned for codes, and nothing came up.



So right now we're suspecting it to be a vacuum leak or fuel starvation problem.  The fuel pump seems to be fine, though, judging by the times we ran last night that were almost identical to a stock HO/AOD Stang that was running.  So does anyone else have any ideas?

Mine bogs with less than 1/2 a tank (~8 gallons) because it pulls so  hard the gas flows away from the fuel pump. I've also found that if I floor it going around a turn with the same ammount of gas it'll stall for a second because the gas sloshes away from the pump:hick:


For your situation I'd suggest a bigger pump. I'm betting that's part of your problem. Also make sure your TV cable is adjusted right. It's  picky about TV adjustment. If it's just a bit off the car will shift like  and feel slugish when pressing lightly on the gas.

The gas in the tank doesnt seem to affect it.  My dad and I are probably going to change the fuel pump and also put in an adjustable fuel regulator so we can check out what the engine is getting.  The TV cable MIGHT be an issue, but I think it's unlikely since the problem is intermittent.  But I'll have to check into it since sometimes it does feel sluggish under slight throttle (but only at VERY low rpms...at mid rpms, she pulls great).
