Gas in Vacuum lines

Anyone have an idea as to why I am getting Gas in my vacuum lines? I have an 88 Sport and it will start up but right away the idle goes to  and it dies. After that it is very hard to start.

If you pull one of the vacuum lines from the firewall in front of the driver you smell gas, strong. This started in December, but I was parking it for the winter so I am just not finding it and trying to figure it out.

You guys were right on. As I was leaving for work my buddy called and that was what he was going to replace, he was done and it was idling like a champ. I'll pick it up Thursday (5-31). While he had it apart he also replaced the upper intake + valve cover gaskets, and changed the oil + filter.

Pic is from 2K2 when I bought it. Door windows no longer are tinted, Wis. cops made me take it off. Really pissed me off, especially since I see people EVERY day with the same or darker.
