If I had to use a 350, it wouldnt be a Chevy.

Well, if I had to use a GM motor, it would be an LS1. Though I guess I could also accept a buick 3.8T.

I'd use an Olds 350 to be different if I were to use a 350.  Very nice setup!

Wait, why did you edit out your posts? "A little criticism?"

You've been here long enough to know that everyone is going to post their opinions about your car on this board. ;) Don't let these guys get you down, man. Stick to your guns. You got paid a LOT of nice compliments here, despite the "negative" comments. And you completed your dream. More power to ya.

Please reconsider posting them again. That's an awesome ride.

Funny how the young(er than me) crowd hates the 350.  I like it, always have and always will.

The car looks awesome, I want a T bucket someday and will probably build one.  I'll put a 350 in it too, cause I have a bunch of them.

Now looking at it, I would change one thing.  Tunnel ram with dual quads on it :)

You know I loved it!

I like 350s. I see nothing wrong with putting a 350 in anything, unless it is not practical to do so. If a 350 would move my 53 Chevy Id be all over one, but I need something with a little more oomphf. I think an LS7 would be nice. I wanna see pics, whyd you delete them?

Perhaps you are right. Thing is, I just spent a bundle on this dream car that I have always been known by (it's even in my email addy), yet I received more criticism in this thread than in the 18 years I drove a Chevy powered T-Bucket in the real world (the "T-Bucket" being a kit car more or less designed around the venerable 350 engine that contains "0" Ford parts - not ONE Ford part). It does say "Ford" on the back as it is modeled after a '23 Model "T" (duh), but it is NOT a Ford product per se - though it is registered as a '23 Ford Model "T" - go figure...

Let me get some sleep and I'll get back to this tomorrow.

the problem is the immense popularity of hot rods today, and all of them have the chevy 350/THM350 tranny combo, and it tends to tire it out and people like myself grow bored of seeing the same thing over and over again. besides, a buncha die-hard Ford/Mercury guys here, whatdya expect? :D

i fall in that category BUT i can NOT help but grin from ear to ear when i see a T-Bucket, no matter what its got. the look is really timeless, i think even most Average Joes will at least get a chuckle seing one, just because of how wild it is. it really captures the bad-ass hot rod image completely. from the crazy rake to the massive rear tires, its always a "crowd-pleaser" great if you like the attention!

Immense popularity? There is only one other T-Bucket that I know of around here and I have not seen it this year. I was told by a lady who chased me through the car store after finding out that I was driving the bucket that someone recently brought one to the local car show. She was so excited to tell me - it was weird.

The guy I bought this 'Bucket from flew down to Arizona to see it. He had it shipped from Arizona to here he liked it so much. I was so happy to find a 'Bucket in my neck of the woods that had the build-up that I was looking for - it was such a stroke of luck - I have been extremely happy since I picked this up! Thanks to all of you who can do nothing more than piss-and-moan about my car's engine. I will be sure to return the favor when you share pictures of your pride-and-joy. Thanks for ruining it for me here as I was bpuppies with pride and couldn't wait to show off my new car to all the folks here - the only site I considered sharing these pics with. I guess I thought folks here were more open minded than this - boy was I wrong. This is the Lounge right? A place to share off-topic stuff? :flame:

Bored of seeing them? I guess I don't get out because mine is the only one I've seen this year. I met a guy in another auto parts store who was telling me about a guy who spent 4 years building a 'Bucket in the gas station that he worked and and how he won World of Wheels 4 years in a row. I love how people will just start up a conversation and tell you about their experiences when you are driving a 'Bucket. All of this is kind of strange to me because I am normally so shy and unassuming.

Then I post pics of my my new 'Bucket here and it's like professional jealousy or something - I've never seen anything like it. I know we Fox Cougar/Bird people are a small community that doesn't get a lot of respect, but do we have to act this small-minded as well? Out of the 15 or so cars I've owned in my life, only 3 were Fords - the '71 Mustang, '83 Cougar and the '87 20th. I love my Cougar and I occasionally enjoy ribbing the competition, but this is ridiculous. THIS IS A FRIGGIN' KIT CAR. It's a plastic bowl bolted to a pair of frame rails. Yet it's NOT an easy thing to put together. To be of any value at all, the fab work has to be spotless. The engine mounts on my 'Bucket are chrome for a reason. I've been rebuilding mine for years in the garage and I can vouch for all the head scratching that goes on. If I didn't have some equipment at work & a welder here, I would have been up the creek a long time ago as far as solving some of the fabrication issues. I do this for fun and my Cougar has always taken precidence over this project. If I had to figure out all the fab work and heartache associated with changing to a new drivetrain, well that would just have put me over the top and I would have not even gotten as far as I did on the 'Bucket. As it is, I have been rebuilding my old 'Bucket for 7 years in the garage!!! I don't see any of the critics posting their fine Ford powered hand-built cars here (though a couple of amazing fabricators here get extra credit here - they really are amazing! :) ).

I loved the 318 in my Sport Fury, the 400 in my GTO, the 351C in my Mustang and of course the 302 in my Cougar. I love V8 power. I have to admit that I was not that fond of the wimpy 305's in my Firebird & Blazer and I am not that fond of the oh-so-common 350 in my 'Bucket from a power making standpoint. But one reason I bought the 302 V8 Cougar was the massive availabiltiy of parts due to the Mustang. The fact that the drivetrain and many other parts cross from a Mustang is just gravy. I like choices when I build my cars up. Same applies to the 'Bucket. The options available to me w.r.t. engine mounting & upgrade parts with the 350 is just too much to pass up. I'm not made of money and I do not have infinite time to work on my cars (darned GF & kids & stuff - you know how it is). So the choice was simple for me. I either have a T-Bucket or I don't. I chose to have one as I love the wildness and I was so lucky to find one as a kid (they are rarely up for sale around here). It includes the same 350 that I had chosen to build my original 'Bucket with. I originally bought a rolling chassis and only had the funds as a college kid to buy an old Chevy Belair and transfer the drivetrain into the 'Bucket. Thankfully there is a company that makes all of the necessary parts to mount this onto the 'Bucket chassis. I was even able to chrome it up a bit as back in the late 80's parts for the Chevy 350 were plentiful & the 5L HO Mustang was just being introduced - not much of an aftermarket for that yet!! If I was to start a new 'Bucket project today, I would most likely choose a nice 5L seeing as I have rebuilt 2 of them and I am intimately familiar with them at this point. Oh, and there are now many parts available for this motor and there is now available at least one choice for certain critical mounting and custom parts (side-pipes etc...) available for the T-Bucket chassis.  I suppose it's easy for a lot of the whippersnappers to forget that some of us were rodding when GM was a huge influence in the Musclecar scene. ed kids these days.

no no now im not talking about t-buckets. i think there are TWO of them in my entire town. youre absolutely right. i mean hot-rods in general. everything from 32 fords to 57 buicks, chopped and channeled, lowered, etc and the engine and transmission choice is always the same, its the one ive mentioned.

im just talking from the perspective thats been introduced to me since being in the antique car hobby, and the general attitude i hear is "Not enough real oldies being kept original, they all get hot-rodded with a 350/350" every once in awhile you find an old flathead ford that the guy decided to hop up and those guys tend to respect that a little more

Me, personally? I dont know. model A's and stuff, ok theres LOTS of em out there. every big antique car show i see MANY restored A's. i dont mind seeing them rodded. my '38 buick 4dr with its straight 8? big no-no. T-buckets? I could care less to be honest. I might make the remark in jest "uh oh shes got a chebbie!" but really i just take in the overall look which is really dazzling. theres also lots of T's out there and clubs for them keeping them original.

again im talking about hot rods in general, take a look most have the 350/350. but the reason is obvious--it fits into ANYTHING so I do have to take that into account when I go to classic car shows. Really since joining the antique car hobby I'm a little poisoned against hot-rods! But I understand the viewpoint, especially with "resto-mods". My 38 IS a bit of a handful in busy traffic. People want the old look, but with Air Conditioning, a -nice- stereo that plays CDs or mp3s, a non-schoolbus-sized steering wheel, power steering, modern performance brakes, radial tires and a solid tight suspension.

I truly appreciate what you've done in building that up. I would like you to know that your engine and tranny choice really dont bother me at all. Just keep those side-pipes wide open, thats all i gotta say.:D

Jesus man. Chill out.

You cant please everyone, so dont try. Half of these people here dont have the means, the skill, the dollar, or knowledge on building anything from the ground up. Look at the threads where some need help with simple problems.

How do you think i felt when i put nearly 2K into wheels, tires, brakes, 5-lug, just to have a 3 page thread with people talking about my exhaust tip?

Youll have people critisize everything you do. Everything from the shirt and shoes you wear, to your wife/girlfriend/, you job, and your cars. Its your job to let it roll off your back and not let it bother you.

Hell, if you want to put it in shows, expect some people to say worse things. Ive heard people say "that car is a piece of shiznit, why did you bring it here?".
It's Gumby's fault.
