subframe connectors for a cat?

well.. i started working on my cougar last night, getting it ready for the new motor, transmission, and rear. someone told me mustang subframe connectors would work on a tbird/cougar.. well they lied!

does anyone know where i can pick a set up? i havn't been able to dig anything up.

straight piece of 2"x2" 11ga square tubing is what i used. 64.5" would be a full-length for our cars.

I bought a set from Griggs long ago, and they were a long piece of 2x2 tubing and some pics.
I did like the rear bulkhead plate though.

40BOB.COM sells them.
Bought a set last year,comes with already boxed low profile tubing and all the side plates pre cut.
Have yet to install them but they are nice pieces.

thanks for the input guys. i'll check them out. i started screwing around with the car a bit earlier, pulled out the springs and shocks and started bolting in my coilovers(ran out of daylight:disappoin )

i would imagine just as much as they are for a mustang($70-160). i can't see spending much more than that.. they're cheap and should be relitivly easy to build.

thats probably the route i'm going to wind up taking. i'll probably need something a little beefier than what i've seen so far. but at the same time i can't cut and hack a lot of things because i want to try and get it 9.0 certified JUST incase

I've got directions from Griggs on their upper and lower subframe connectors. The only discrepancy I found was with their recommendation of 1 1/2" X 2" tubing for the thru-floor connectors. That's not tall enough for our sub-frame channels. I used 2" sq X .125 for the uppers and 2" X 1" .125 for the lowers. It's well worth it.

I like the way Gumby did his. If I had seen the way he did it, I would've modified the way I installed mine to include the bulkhead plate as well. Food for thought.

i talked to a guy from a performance shop today who built an 87 notchback. He said he made his own out of 2x2 steel tubing and they certified his car for 9's. he had his bulkhead plates as part of his connector, like Gumby's are. He said it helps with strength big time when it's all 1 piece.
