Hey all.. my names chris and i have an 88 XR7. Ran 13.8's with a mild 302, stock aod, and stock gears. It currently has no motor as i pulled it out a few weeks ago and dropped it into my bronco. Starting to build an all new motor so i can go turbo. block is punched out .030 over(making it a 306). Going to be running a Garrett 88mm turbo with a carb. Here are a few pics of the car with the old motor..

I would rethink the T88 turbo on a 302ci engine.

Will be very slow to spool. A T64-T70 at the most for a 302ci

 Just my 2 cents.

a guy i know builds turbo quick 8 cars.. he said an 88mm garrett will do ok with a 306. you're right, it does take a little bit to get it going, but he said his nova was like that too(355 with a 98mm precision) and his best run was 7.47 on 30 lbs of boost(i don't plan on getting that out of mine! i think it would fold in 1/2:hick: )

Turbo sizing depends on your power goals. something in the 72-76 mm range with a .68-.86 exhaust A.R will be enough to gernade a stock 5.0 liter block.

i've seen a stock 5.0 gernade before, but then again it was all bone stock, but still.. the kid bolted on 2 turbo coupe turbos and had them modified to push 15 lbs a piece.. bye bye 5.0

this guy dennis helped me find a ford racing block. he said it should be more than enough for what i'm doing. he just built a mustang for a guy with a prochager pushing around 12-14lbs with the same block and it's holding up great. i only plan on running 12-15 lbs at the most until i can build an all out turbo motor to run around 20.
