Looks really nice. Seriously, it's so easy to make those cars faster than they are from the factory. Check the local ads for super cheap cars that you could by and drive for a few weeks while it's in the shop getting a little rebuild action done on it. That's what I'm going to do when I take the T/A in for the 383. Quote Selected
New Nickname...SR-71..."The Black Bird" (Ton-o-Pics) Reply #19 – May 10, 2007, 09:27:52 PM How much would (or should) I be looking to pay for a 2.3 rebuild? Does it cost more because it's a turbo? Furthermore, 2.3's seem in abundance on ebay, would those work? Or must I get one specially made for Turbo operation? Quote Selected

Remember they are only rated at 150Hp because of limited boost and the single exaust... IF its boosting normally(8-9psi), and isn't using a bunch of oil, a rebuild likely will net very little gain...You'd gain much more with a free flowing exhaust system and a increase in boost... Then the old 2.3(or rhe A4LD tranny) would likely show it's age and puke it's guts... Sometimes it's just a no win situation... The fun TC's are the 5 Speeds, with the 3.97 first gear T5 and a 3.55 rear... Makes you feel almost invincable taking off... :D Unless its specifically a turbo motor, likely those ebay 2.3s don't have the forged pistions... Standard or hypertetuic pistions will not last in boosted engines... Quote Selected
