If they send you a check and then want you to send part of it back that is the classic Nigerian scam. Everything seems ok at first, but by the time the bank figures out the check is no good you have already sent your check and now you are out the money.The govt. forces the banks to credit your account with the deposit right away. They used to wait until they knew the check was good but people bitched so much the govt. made them change.This opened up the opportunity for this kind of scam. Quote Selected
