The platinum's are a waste of money, period. Standard plain-jane NGK's make the same power, more reliably, for more miles. Spark plugs are the biggest bs gimmick bs ever on a car.

i know you're young, but be patient with buying parts for your car. talk with other people FIRST, before making a decision on something. it might save you a lot of headache and hard earned money in the end.

and running royal purple in a high mileaged motor isnt going to help any.

95k isn't that high. Being as im not light on vehicle's ill take the added protection. Its gonna get hopped up, i don't do stock. Its a work in progress. Im getting her running good, stopping leaks, then comes the underside needs to be striped and rust proofed before new england eats it up more. Im an buttstuff kid, its getting royal tranny fluid and rear end fluid. I want it to stay good as long as i can keep it that way, cause ill never get my parents to buy me a car, and i know my moms not gonna give me her cobra! Hell once i get it reliable, im gonna start a pile of parts. Gonna rip it out junior year in the summer at my dads go though the whole motor, already have a guy said he will do the machine work on the motor for me.

As far as asking other people, I know a thing or two, but I love advice, why else would I have said my plans here, I want feedback from the people I know will lead me where i need to go!
Thanks to all for your help so far!

Yep, those are the ones. A LOT cheaper then Platinum's aren't they?

Royal Purple helps high milage engines the most IMHO. My 386K mile Nissan truck LOVED that stuff. You MUST absolutely fix them valve cover gaskets first! Try these:

http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?part=SUM%2DG2321&autoview=sku

And forget those ugly butt stockers, drop a little coin for these:

http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1&part=SUM%2DG3321&N=700+4294840126+4294925232+4294839018+4294889096+115&autoview=sku

Or these if you can afford them (I'd rock these):

And don't forget one of these:

And these are the good wires:

Or the Ford Racing ones:

aero I love you!!! Ok whats better taylor or ford? I was gonna get the fords. Im getting those ford racing ones. I first used royal purple in my 73 honda motorcycle i bought the oil i drained out was green and had mold put in the royal man thing ran like a freaking (still runs on it to this day) Since then i buy something it gets royal.

so NGK's, new fuel filter, new gaskets, valve covers, and which ever plug wires you say are better is the next round of improvements for the 5.0!

Summit comes out to 137.96 for everything but fuel filter, which ill get at pep boys. Thats with the for racing wires, which i will change if you say the taylors are better
EDIT
anyone know what kindda mods needed to clear the intake? Hell maybe ill just get a exploder one now!

A spacer should work just fine for the intake. The Taylors really are the best (accept for MSD's but they're $110/set) but the Ford's are consistently good with the stock ignition. It really is a toss-up. Summit sells the fuel filter too.

You'll need valve covers for an EFI engine. Those are for a carbed engine on the last page.Valve covers are way down on the list when you're trying to get the car running right.Do an engine flush and then add your new oil.Once you pull the valve covers, you'll be able to see a lot.Check for gummed up oil on the rockers and how did the plugs look? You should go ahead and replace the upper to lower plenum gasket when you pull the upper to swap valve cover gaskets. You don't have to pull the valvebody when you do this, just leave it bolted to the upper. Also, pay close attention to where the vacuum lines go.If it looks a little hard to remember, just label them with masking tape and a Sharpie marker.Check all of the vacuum lines as well. You may have a couple leaking,or broke.I don't know if you knew this, but our local AutoZone can now get Ford Racing parts.Plug wires, etc.Get all you can locally and save on shipping costs if that's what you're wanting.Ask a lot of questions before you do anything like stated above. It will save you time and money.

Changing out valve cover gaskets isn't difficult. Just stay away from cork gaskets. They are a pita to work with and still end up leaking.

As far as cleaning stuff so the car runs better...
1. Pull the air inlet tube off the throttle body. If the throttle body is gunky and oily inside, get a can of throttle plate- sensor safe, cleaner and go to town.
2. Remove the idle air control valve and spray it out with the same stuff. The inside should be clean, not oily and gummy.
3. Check the PCV valve and replace if the thing inside doesn't rattle when you shake it. Also get a set of needle nose pliars and pull the PCV screen out. It's buried down in the lower manifold and is probably all clogged up. Spray it out with carb cleaner to see if it can be saved. If not replace that as well.

I didn't realize those were carb only vc's :hick: Of course, except for the pos Sport that doesn't run and the GTO, all of the V8's here are carb'd (AMC 401, Buick Nailhead 401).

Summit has lower prices then AutoZoo and doesn't charge shipping. It's a flat $5 handling fee no matter how much  you order. Here's the right VC's (I think):

Oh and i can't remove the cats, need them for inspection.

All i got to do today was wash it, and run her a bit more. Sucks not being able to take it to the gas station, ive been filling it up with a 2 gallon gas jug! Hopefully next weekend ill have all the stuff i need to tear into it again, and do it right and completely.

Now you told me what needs to be cleaned, now i would like if someone doesn't mind to show me exactly where they all are, other then the throttle body, theres about 10 different things on the intake that i have pretty much no idea what is what.

In my opinion, dont run Royal Purple. Yes, its good stuff, but youll find out how many leaks you actually have. Id run Mobile 1 synthetic. Its cheaper, and youll never notice a difference between the two in a street car.
It's Gumby's fault.
