Now Pay Attention Class: AOD TV Valve vid Reply #4 – April 19, 2007, 04:43:23 PM yeh thats like how everything was taught at nascar tech except after lec6ture we would do said adjustments. thing is i never got past electronics b/c my tranny blew (irrelivent) which put me in a money bind... anyway i didnt get to the adjustments of the engine... cam and i didnt get to take auto trans (would have torn one down, put it back together, and dynoed it... man i missed out and hope these other schools do that shiznit) so ok that guy showed how to make the adjustment... but whats the difference left to right of the sleeve adjustment? the black part sticking out was im asuming stock spec... what if it was shortened or lengthened? i wanna adjust it to my particular taste... Here is a good link to read: http://www.txchange.com/aodadj.htmFor road use I have mine set at a spot where the OD shift occurs at 54 MPH under a very light throttle. Keep in mind I have 3.27 gears and in 4th at 75 MPH if I hit the throttle to the floor the car will give me 2nd gear. When I go to the track this June, I'll be yankin that sucker all the way to the stop. The way I have it set now gives me close to 6000 RPM's at WOT shifts. I won't gain much (if any) more RPM's, but she shift MUCH harder when I set the cable at it's outmost position. TOO hard for the street at part throttle however, that's why I keep it slightly backed off normally. Quote Selected
Now Pay Attention Class: AOD TV Valve vid Reply #6 – April 21, 2007, 05:14:58 PM your tranny sounds the same as mine, 3rd tho goes to 80, down a hill with a tailwind. when i adjusted the linkage, as i moved the "lock" back about between a quarter and 8th inch. i had a reference point b/c the thing had never been touched so there was basically an outline where the lock was. so i moved it back and it downshifts way too much. i moved it forward and it felt like the pedal had lost the tightness and flooring it in 1st barely kept the car on a hill at 25mph. so right then and there i stopped and moved it back backwards. 4th is acting wierd, in some situations it'll upshift to OD at about 45, but it is set to drop into OD at 54 (dont ask how i luckily got it right on the 54mph mark) which it does. see i've been pissed all day, and i've noticed 1st gear last longer, and second lasts way to long, 3rd is the main gear untill above 54, then i have half a pedal at even 75 b/c it wants to go to 3rd which at 75 isnt much improvment of speed at all. i just wish i could flat foot overdrive on the interestate b/c i feel like the car wont go into it's 4th gear powerband b/c it downshifts. is there a way, without a shift kit, to adjust it where it winds out 1-3 just great, but once im in OD is there a way to kinda like lock it into OD? its frustraiting, nissan sentras on the interstate pull away from me b/c everytime i try to give her gas she wants 3rd like a baby in a candy tornado. so i never get power out of 4th at all. i'd say if me and a volkswagen type 2 engined beetle would walk away while im trying to put as much foot into it without it downshifting. its kinda depressing b/c it shifts harder, it uses the gears better, just not OD. theres gotta be something. Mine is in SECOND GEAR at 80 at WOT.Quotebut once im in OD is there a way to kinda like lock it into OD? its frustraiting, nissan sentras on the interstate pull away from me b/c everytime i try to give her gas she wants 3rd like a baby in a candy tornado. so i never get power out of 4th at all.Your car wants 3rd instead of OD when you give it enough gas because it will accelerate faster in 3rd than in OD. You're not going to get power in 4th gear until your travelling at speeds over about 115 anywayIn a stock AOD, 4th; or OD; is locked out at WOT. In other words the car will not shift into OD at WOT. Now Pay Attention Class: AOD TV Valve vid Reply #8 – April 22, 2007, 11:21:57 AM that makes me sad b/c 3rd is WOT at 80, but i swear even at speeds close to 115 it still wants to downshift. guh, im just ganna have to put more power into 3rd the old fassioned way... HP. Quote Selected
Now Pay Attention Class: AOD TV Valve vid Reply #9 – April 22, 2007, 11:44:58 AM Quotebut i swear even at speeds close to 115 it still wants to downshiftThat's because the AOD is designed to not shift into OD (or stay in it) at WOT. For WOT in OD SOMETHING must be done to your valve body. The TransGo shift kit I have took care of that issue. Quote Selected
