What Tranny 1984 Mark VII

I'm Hopeing this is one of those years where there was only one transmishion offered.
Car was an LSC with a 5.0 auto w/floor shift. console was torn up where you couldent see the plate for what gear you were in.

would this be an AOD?

I could supply pic's but would take a day or so and it's pretty greasy still.

So a great start to swap into my 1988 5.0 Tbird to convert it to floor shift?
I guess THATS what I really wanted to know in the first place.

Isn't there something different in the Lincoln tailshafts?  Aren't they longer?

Ooops, you are right Chuck, the Mark tailshaft is 16", like a truck, most of the rest of the cars had 15".  I forgot to mention that.  Well, the good news that comes out of this is that while you have the trans apart to swap the output shaft, you can go through it and do more internal upgrades....

Shes black on black, fully loaded, with headers, 180 tstat, e fan, straight exhaust into a cherry bomb vortex ler, full tune up, ported intake and T/B, MSD coil, and round aircleaner.

Unless it has a fresh rebuild I wouldn't mess with it...

Did all the LSCs have the longer tranny??? I know the 86 LSC trans I have is the long one...

A '88 AOD is a better piece than the early stuff because of better oiling to the rear planetary gears... Only difference in column and console shifter trannys are the manual levers, no big deal to swap...
