3g?

What all can I get a 3g from? I'm looking for one as I'm going to the JY today and tomorow.

3g alts are on 89 and up Cougars and T-Birds with a 3.8 (the bolt holes line up). You can find a 140 and 200 amp easily on any of the newer cats and birds. Make sure that you grab the fuse on the fuse panel for your install. You can also try 3.0 and 4.0 in aerostars/rangers and 3.8 in a taurus. Just shooting from the hip I think those are the ones that fit.

The 3.0 Taurus.I've found that the 3.8 Taurus has a different alternator,the bolt holes are too far apart.If you take a razor blade or really sharp pocket knife,you can cut the alternator harness tape off and keep the long heavy gauge yellow cable intact and use it on the swap.It fits perfectly.

dont forget to check some tempo's They have the 3G's on them. I wanna say the ones with a 2.3 have the one with the right mounting  on the front of the case. Also don't forget the crown vic's. You could also goto the parts store and look until you find the one that fits your car. Have them get out the alt for your can them match up the newer ones until you find a case that is the right one.

My brother has a '97 3.8 thunderbird that is being junked eventually, so I plan to steal the alternator out of it, although he said it had been making a whining sound...if nothing else I can use it as a core I guess.

Well, at the yard, I didn't see ANY Mustangs, birds, cougars of ANY year. A few 5.0 Explorer's, some rangers, teh normal FWD bullshiznit. Anyone needs anything from those, let me know.

I have a question, cuase I need to do this for my Mark 8 fan, will the 130 Amp from a 94-95 Mustang 5.0 work?

Sweet, I'll get right on getting that on the way, and bolting it to the 5.0.  I think I saw somewhere that I will have to modify my aluminum brackets to make a 3G go on, but I am ok with that.

Just notching the bracket slightly.No big deal.When you install the 3G,you'll see where it touches the bracket.You'll also have to swap a couple of wires.Look at the threads on that.

Yeah, I already saw that you need to modify wires, I'm into that too, sounds like fun.
