Kingcars I totally agree with you!

That t-bird is over kill but if it is a show car, then it might get high marks, I would hate to actually drive it!

Too much chrome? Oh, children. That intercooler alone has more tlc invested than every rattle caned valve cover you've ever seen. Contrast? He didn't chrome his block. There you go.

That is a thing of beauty. (you see, it's ok to disagree with the majority. don't be afraid.)

It's stunning in person. He's had things for his TC chromed that, frankly, have probably never been chromed before. In that respect he's a pioneer. Mad props...

I think he just painted it too. A copper pearl metallic crazy color. He's being hush-hush until Carlisle. The car is jaw-dropping beautiful in real life.

It may be unique, but I think he's gone overboard. I think it takes away from the rest of the car. Especially when our cars don't have very much chrome on them anywhere else to start with...To each their own I guess....

So basically you're saying that he spent A LOT more effort making his engine look py than I did making mine look decent.

Too bad you cant really see the block.

I think it's ugly as sin.  It's fine to disagree with the majority, but we can spit it right back :flame: .

Before a flame war is started, I have no problem with guys doing what they want with their cars.  In fact, I encourage it.  I'm just spouting my opinion, as if it matters :hick: .

No, I'm saying he spent A LOT of effort making his engine look Chromey. py looking is subjective, isn't it. ;) He put that time into it to make it look the way he wanted it to look. Something to stand out. As someone said, it is a showcar. Your engine bay looks nice, there's no arguing that, and I wouldn't want to. It also looks stock, so you aren't going to turn heads with it. It's a hard comparison to make, wouldn't you think. Actually, no one was comparing his to yours. I don't really know where that came from.

The block contrast was a joke, bud. :grinno: (as was most of my post)

As for my majority comments, keep a watch out. You'll notice once something is ciriticised on here, most people will follow along so they don't apear tasteless, or will just keep their admiration to themselves for the same reason. Watch and you'll see those who think for themselves and those who follow the leader. (and they're not defined by who likes the chrome in this thread and who doesn't. They just keep posting the typical 'oh hells yeah' posts in nearly every thread.)

I understand all your points and I agree, I was just being a smartass like always.  Everyone is entitled to making his or her car how he or she wants it and I respect that.  I just had a few smart comments to make and...well..had to make them :D .  No harm done.  I've always been an understated kind of guy when it comes to appearance, so thats why I prefer a more understated looking car.  Lots of chrome has never been my thing.  I think it should be used as a nice detail (like how I love my chrome fuel rails), not a whole scheme.  Thats what I like about cruise-ins as opposed to actual car shows; most people at cruise ins know how to respect everyone else's cars even if they dont like the car.  At actual car shows, a select few tend to be "snooty."

And yes, it's common for us as humans to just follow the leader.  That's just how things are.  And I even noticed how a few people backed you up after your post.

I cant make an honest opinion by one shiznitty pic, aside from the rims...  Hate 'em.  I would love to see the car in person though, from what I can tell by the one pic, it must be an amazing thing to look at.

Props to the guy.

Im not a chrome fan by any means, but when things are done, i tend to follow the "all or nothing" theme. He did a very good job of doing it all, and when i talked to him in person, he actually took a bunch of chrome off because it was indeed overboard.

You could paint 2 parts in your engine bay, and call it custom, or leave only two parts with paint on them, and really be custom.
It's Gumby's fault.

Another thing, too...you can't really appreciate the workmanship until you're actually standing in front of the car, looking at the engine bay. I mean, there isn't a scratch on any of the chrome. The places he has to reach to keep it clean...man, it's just mind-boggling. Really it's a testament to how spotless the chrome is kept while he drives the car. That's an amazing feat...true, much more work than a daily driver, but he works hard to be able to afford that luxury.

And you need some really dark sunglasses to view that engine bay when the sun's out, lemme tell ya. ;)
