So it Begins

Mentioned this a few times in a few places, why my time will be real limited for the next few months. Eight months in the works and FINALLY breaking ground on my home in Kalama Wa. Thought I would show ya all a pic. Best part of this is MY space... 26x40 3 car heated air conditioned garage and shop under the house as a daylight basment.

I may have linked it elsewhere here on the site but I don't recall where. Here is my Bird, not the best picture of it for one the pic has been reduced due to using to high of a resolution on my camera, lost a little quality there. That it's raining out dident help much eather. This to top it off this is the day after I went to my land to take some measurments and sunk in the mud where it took me 2 hours and a pull from a neighbor to get it out so it's still got mud all along the lower edge, actualy looks good here, should have seen the other side (power wheel) when I finaly got it out.

Anyway the Bird don't go to the homesite anymore until they get the driveway in.. F250 4x4 only!!

Also is not 5 lug yet, those are some $4 plastic hub caps I bought 4 years ago (actualy look pretty good for a buck each)

Working on a rear now, Have 8.8 Locker with the same gears as the bird has now (2.73) with Vented disk, 5 lugs and Just ordered new Posi clutches for it, and waiting on some Por-15 Epoxy paint I ordered to paint it that got deliverd to Montana. Also already have a set of the mustang 17x9 Bullitt rims for it that will go on with the 8.8. Hopping to fit 275/40-17 tires on the back but remains to be seen.

Where did you find an 8.8" rear with vented discs and 2.73 gears? I'd only ever heard of 3.55 (5-speed TC, the rear I have) and 3.73 (automatic TC). *EDIT* Nevermind, I just re-read your post and saw it's 5-lug, so I'm assuming it's out of a Mark VII (though I always thought those came with 3.27 gears)

I can relate to the mud - last year (in January - a very mild winter had resulted in no frost in the ground), while the Volvo was in the shop getting a new engine I was driving my T-Bird on a back road to look at a possible land purchase and sunk it right to the rocker panels. Luckily the car was facing uphill, so I was able to back down it with no help. Car got some ed muddy though...

Well you’re on the right track Thunder

Axels and Vented Disk” are from a 1984 Mark VII that had a 7.5 diff with (you are correct-->)3.27 gears and no posi
8.8 w/2.73 and Locker” are from a 4 lug rear that I got off Craigslist. I’m told it came out of a 90 or 91 Mustang.

Axels are the same from “Keeper Pin Slot” to “Bearing Race” so they will interchange (both housings 7.5 and 8.8 were the same length also, that helped to confirm to me the compatibility) from the bearing race outward the Disk axels are longer so it should end up the same width as the Mark VII that I am told is the same width as the T-Bird.

Edit:
The 4 lug axels and brake backing plates and drums are already installed back on the 7.5 non posi mark rear and all fit's. The 8.8 combo I will be using isn't assembled yet so something could go wrong still. I waiting on my Por-15 paint and the clutch pack for the posi before I assemble it. But since the 7.5 went together fine I'm pretty sure there shouldent be a prob with te 8.8.
Rest of the stuff due here friday, if my home build will allow I'll assemple and paint it this weekend.

It's coming along little at a time.
Foundation is in as is the Slab and underground plumbing, Pump house/shed is about done it's 12x16 and as it's has 8 foot walls and a Gambrel (Barn) style roof it's going to have massive storage upstairs.
The framers are scheduled to start on the 27th and they say they will have it UP in a week. So second week in may I’ll be siding and roofing the thing. Aside from electrical I’ll be finishing the rest myself. (with some help from friends)

Lot of work coming up.
I’ll try to get some updated pic’s.

Yea it is, just wish I had your engine and exaust. Love your sound.
I'll try to get an updated pic of it by this weekend. Looks like a whole differant car with the work I have done to it in the last week. Got the 5 lug swap an the bullitts on there and Did fit the 275's under the wheel well real nicely.
Need to drop it's ass about two inches I think so going to try mustang springs on it.

Got about three squares of roofing left to do.
