T3 Turbo Options March 19, 2007, 12:01:38 PM I'm looking for a new T3 or T3/T4 turbo in the 5-600 dollar range. Would this one work? Any other links you guys can find would be appreciated. Quote Selected
T3 Turbo Options Reply #1 – March 19, 2007, 01:09:59 PM Well, first off, I can't tell you if it'd work since they don't tell you jack shiznit about that turbo. The only thing I can tell from the pics is that it's a .48 A/R on the turbine side, and it's the wrong turbine outlet for you to use anyway (you want the 5-bolt style). That also looks like a T4 turbine housing to me, which won't bolt up to your manifold.I'd stay away from that since they give you no useable information and you have no idea what you're getting.If you don't mind a used turbo, check on ebay. I see nice hybrids go on there in the $300-400 range all the time. Quote Selected

That's a dead giveaway that it's one of the cheap chinese junkers.The general rule of thumb for ebay turbos is, "If it seems too good (cheap) to be true, it probably is." Anything you see that has the Turbonetics logo on it, is pretty much a sure bet. Otherwise, just look for stuff that has the AiResearch or Garrett lettering on the compressor housing. Quote Selected

T3 Turbo Options Reply #5 – March 23, 2007, 11:36:54 AM Nah, anything that says "Garrett," "AiResearch," "Warner-Ishi", etc on it is the real thing.On ebay, basically any "new" turbo you can buy for less than $400, stay away...unless you come across some sort of name brand T3. There are some "new" T3's on there that claim to be "48 trim" which is just weird...I don't trust those either. Quote Selected
