what kind of seats do i have here?

I know some the guys here have posted about my seats before, but I never have determined what exactly they are.
It was just a minute ago when I saw the pics of RTStabler's SVO, that i got to thinking again about those seats..tried to post a pic, wouldn't go, so heres a link to the pic.

Look almost like SVo or Mclaren seats to me. A guess though

What do the seatbacks say, Ford Motorsport? It has the Halo headrests a la '83-'84 TC's and many other cars. The general shape of the seat sort of reminds me of the T-bird Heritage (which had a t-bird logo sort of embroidered where the Motorsport logo is), mixed with a TC seat. Wierd stuff. Chuck might know this one.

Actually BCA might know better than I.

They do look like the factory Recaros used in the SVOs or ASC McLarens, however with the Motorsport logo on them, they may have been an aftermarket set that was available through the Motorsport catalog in the mid 80's. The headrests I'm going to guess were swapped.

They were available from Ford Motorsport from 1985-1992, part numbers M-60000-A (driver seat) & M-60000-B (passenger seat).
The halo's are correct, and other than the halo's and the "Ford Motorsport" embossment, they are identical to the factory Mustang SVO seats.

I would consider them to be pretty rare today, I have only seen one set in person and very few pictures of cars with them installed.

They look perfect in your Turbo Coupe !!

Cool, thanks very much Brent, I appreciate it. The seats have a little wear, but they've had that since I took them from the McLaren Capri. The driver's side left bolster needs some work, the padding is kinda bunged up. They have lines for the lumbar, but no switches, I don't know if they have the air bladders up inside them or not.
And to think, when I first put them in my car, I almost pulled them back out because they're so stiff and hard, compared to the stock seats :hick:.
I'd like to eventually have the rear seats done with matching fabric. Anywho, thanks for the info guys, lays to rest the mystery of my seats!

PS Brent..it isn't a TC...just a buncha TC stuff added on, lol

They should have bladders in them, but they originally didn't have electric motors and switches to inflate them like the '85-'88 TC & '88 Sport seats did. They would have had a manual rubber inflator like the SVO & the '83-'84 Turbo Coupe seats used.

how much would a asc maclaren capri be worth (sorry for hijack), theres one near my house in rough shape, im ive been curious to ask about it.

They vary widely based condition and originality, but generally you can get them for decent money because most people either don't know what they really are or don't care because it's a Capri and not a Mustang ('84-'86 only).
Is it a Coupe, a EuroCoupe, or a SC (convertible)?

I recently sold a 1986 EuroCoupe with 80k miles on it that I had owned for nearly 10 years and was in fairly good shape with no major problems other than it needed to be stripped down and re-painted to look new again. I struggled to get $3,500 for it. I guarantee that if it was a Mustang GT, I could have sold it for more than that in a heartbeat.

This is a quote from Mike Negus over at the ascMcLaren message board that should give you a pretty good idea.
In this particular case, we were talking about the possible value of a 117k mile 1986 Coupe that someone had found.

"Lets say the car is NEARLY 100% original. NO bolt on mods save for an exhaust change, no aftermarket radio (should have the asc alpine 7272), no butchered doors and door panels, NO RUST, NO ACCIDENT DAMAGE, NO missing radar detector etc etc...a very very good car needing detailing but no major restoration....I would place it at $8k....thats probably tip top condition. There is a 1986 on http://www.ascmclaren.com that is absolutely IMMACULATE (save for mysterious door panels) for $12k. This car looks to be below that at least.

Now if the interior has been played with, if it has some rust, maybe a minor accident, the engine has been modified by an "amateur" then I feel the price will drop significantly...$4-$6k.

The value of the car seriously depends on how much of the asc stuff remains. Ground effects are worth $1000+, radar detector = $250, radio = $150, foglights = $300, wheels = $400 each, steering wheel = $500, etc etc if you have to get stuff from http://www.ascmclaren.com. The fact that from the outside, it looks like the car needs NOTHING then I would say it would have to be worth at LEAST $4k....I couldn't imagine the interior or undercarriage is going to show any major surprises based on the exterior so maybe the bottom line is $5k-7k."

The one I owned was pretty rough, effects had been ripped off, original wheels were missing, the dash plaque was gone, as was the grille plaque. The ONLY visual referring to ASC/McLaren was the hood, and the decals... shame...i looked the options up one time on the site, and found that the one i had was only one of 40 or so of 1986. No title, wrecked, trashed interior...all it was good for was parts for the Tbird...but i traded it for a truckload of goodies, but i did get the seats out of it, lmao

I wanted the 5.0 and T5 for my Bird...wish i'd kept it now.

the inside last time i looked was rough, the outside is the same, BUT it has the factory body kit, wheels, its just been beat to hell. its a hatchback. Only thing is its in an apartment parking lot, no idea how he gets to keep it there cause it hasn't moved since i first saw it, i know cause the tires are flat. so i don't know how to get in touch with the guy. Ill go when its nice take some pics, and look it over better. When i first saw it, i had no clue what it was, i had never heard of asc maclaren, never seen a capri.
