x or h pipe?

i can't decide. i'm a fan of low-end torque from an h-pipe, but the sound of an x-pipe's pretty sweet too. i should just get both. :giggle:
also, has anyone tried jeg's brand exhaust kits? they seem nice for the price.

I use a Pypes off road 2 1/2 inch X-Pipe.It's a two piece part,and fit perfectly the first time,and with the two piece design,allows for excellent pain free fitment........I sounded like a commercial.But it really is cool.

i though x pipes had more low end then h pipes?

I welcomed the dark side and currently am driving a 2000 Dodge Durango SLT plus, with a 5.9, Code named project "Night Runner"
Shes black on black, fully loaded, with headers, 180 tstat, e fan, straight exhaust into a cherry bomb vortex ler, full tune up, ported intake and T/B, MSD coil, and round aircleaner.
Mods to come: Fully rebuilt and heavily modded 46RE, and a richmond rachet locker.

I had jegs kit,Rough nothing fit together.You will need a pipe exspander.
Old Grey Cat to this.88 Cat, 5.0 HO, CW mounts, mass air, CI custom cam, afr165's, Tmoss worked cobra intake, BBK shorty's,off road h pipe, magnaflow ex. T-5,spec stage 2 clutch, 8.8 373 TC trac loc, che ajustables with bullits on the rear. 11" brakes up front. +

You could go nuts and get the MAC Pro-Chamber.  Mikey who used to be on the boards had one on his '88 and it sounded badass.

You might as well be doing commercials for them because you sold me on Pypes a while back. Still haven't installed it though.

I'm running a bassani x-pipe w/cats, with 3 chamber flowmasters. Love the sound. Would be perfect with 2 chamber flows. I've had it for 4 years now and I kinda want to go with a pro chamber h-pipe and 2 chamber flows......but who am I kidding....I have no money so it will be staying as is.

Still running semi factory exhaust on an 88 t.bird ho supercharged :hick: Future plans are jba jet coated shorties, mac prochamber, borla xe lers. I haven't decided on the flow tubes and tailpipes yet. With forced induction I guess it doesn't matter, but I do know good exhaust aint cheap! Hopefully I'll get to test it to see if it is worth it in horsepower.
 From what I read on Andersonford motorsports webpage the borla lers are some of the most free flowing and lowest decibel lers, according to their dyno tests. Just not a big fan of noisey exhaust. X pipes appear to be more free flowing and better sounding than h pipes with the exception of the prochamber. I believe with turbos though, h pipes have better velocity for the turbos to spool, but that is a whole different ballgame.

I know I sound like a commercial,but this X-Pipe was flawless in installation,and has given me zero problems.I installed it in about 10 minutes....literally.I'm sure there are others who have a product that is just as good,but,I spent $126.00 for it,and that fit in my very small budget.

The mac prochamber costs $140.00 more. I wonder if the Mac can flow $140.00 in horsepower better. I know without a doubt it can't sound $140.00 better. That X pipe is worth a good look. Hopefully, I can get some money saved for an exhaust and al least get my friends off my case:beatyoass: At times I called my bird a thunderchicken. My friends complaining "dude, you have to get the exhaust so it can breathe and get rid of those fake duals". I tell him its forced induction the exhaust is going to come out and why does desktop dyno gray out the exhaust section when you select forced induction. He says "dude your choking your chicken":flame: Yeah choking my bird no more I got some hookers :flip:

Two birds exhaust

I have a 1983 5.0 T-Bird with 86,000 original miles on it.
This was a grandma Car.
The first thing I want to do is install duel exhaust to let it breath.
Any suggestions?

Not even close. What spools turbos is before the turbo, not after the turbo ;)

Yeah, I thought I read that in some do it yourself turbo forum. :punchballs:  I haven't had the chance to work on many turbos. :dunno:
