VIN #, year, make, model, trim, color
"condition" ie- running, no engine, whatever
your name, address, and phone #
buyers name, address, and phone #
BOTH signatures AND printed names
date of sale
mileage
title # (if there is one)
tag # (if there is one)
"As is, where is, no warranty expressed or implied" - word for word

Make sure there is an original and a copy. I have a Bill of Sale notebook that automatically carbon copies. If not, just zerox the original. The original goes with the BUYER.

Why do you need a bill of sale?
If you are not a business, I don't think one is required.

Legal reasons to prove ownership, and so i can't screw him/he can't screw me. Like say i sell it, go to the cops and say he stole it, and he has no proof he bought it. Would never do that but thats why you cover all bases

You may have to change a word or phrase, for instance from "a promissory installment note" to "the payment of the sum of" and check everything else to be sure it reflects what you are doing but this should help:

Some states are requiring them to be presented at title changes. FL started 2 years ago... I think there's an example on the state DMV web site, might be one there for any state that requires them.
