That's interesting...

A few years ago, Hot Rod magazine had one of their "12 seconds and 20 mpg" articles, and Larry Widmer's Civic was in that article. He claimed his Civic was making 500+ hp on a 1.5L destroked Honda engine (not even VTEC, if I recall correctly) running 30 psi of boost from a roots blower, with 13:1 compression, AND that he got 36 mpg with it on top of that. All of that sounded like total BS to me, and I find it interesting that while his civic is on the site, and there are several updates to the civic article since that little story was in Hot Rod, there is no mention of the Hot Rod article, no mention of the supercharger, no nothing.

Don't mean to derail your thread...

The guy is some sort of freak. Do a search, I posted about this back in 04. He claims to be some sort of "mind scientist" engineer yet none of his stuff is proven. I did a little research on his White Bird and it did indead run those numbers, with a 790ci motor not the 500. The NHRA came down hard on him so he sped the car. I haven't been able to find out what actually happened to the car, but the old guy has been banned from the NHRA for life. It's definately i=an intriguing scandel...

Yeah there's stuff about superchargers, but there's nothing about what his civic was supposedly doing with a supercharger. That was my point.

What Aerobird posted has made me think this guy is a crock or something...who knows.

I remember reading about that too. He didn't s the car "so nobody could copy it" as he stated, he sped it because it wasn't legal, and therefore worthless (anybody can build an illegal car). That "twisted pyramid" frame wouldn't pass tech, and of course, the body wasn't legal either.

Still, it's one badass Bird, but not being race OR street legal, it'd not be much good to anyone except as a parts car, which is pretty much what happened.
