Part horders?

I am only starting to gather parts for 87/88 Birds, I ve only had this one about 6 months or so but I have my basp00get full of doors, fenders, and bumpers for 65 T Birds. In my garage besides the 04 Bird, the (2) 65 Birds the 70 Bird and the 04 Jeep I have a complete 65 parts car and I have 2 more 65s sitting outside the garage. I know the Jeep doesnt fit with the theme but if I put my 87 in the garage and the wifes Jeep outside I would probably be living in the garage as well. I have also started filling my shed outback with bumpers and such.

Man...it's great to see so many people stockpiling parts. I thought for many years (pre-Internet) that I'd always be the only one. That's awesome guys, thanks for keeping the spirit alive and ensuring at least a limited supply of OEM parts for the future.

In case anyone thinks you're being "greedy"...remind them of the practically zero-company support that we currently have. It's not greed...it's wisdom. If you truly intend on keeping the parts for some kind of future use, it's called "saving for a rainy day", as my grampa used to say. However, if you're stockpiling to try and corner the market, or artificially raise prices, then that's another issue. And there are people out there that do exactly that, with parts for these cars. You definitely have to be careful.

That being said...in no way am I ever going to let you guys know what I have. It's every man for himself. ;)

You know it's funny. My brother says -"Why do you want to hang on to that old car??" Why not trade it in and get something new? You've had it for what... 22 years now! What... it's in pieces now! Just take it to the junkyard! It's not your second car... A taxi is your second car! :giggle: He goes on..... If you wanted to own a classic why not a 60 or 70's Camaro or a real classic Thunderbird! At this point I interject "I'm working with what I got!" :hick: Not chasing something I don't have. That takes him aback a little. Then he asks me if I would be interested in my fathers last project, a Mustang; Only, it's the ugliest Mustang FORD ever made! Well, next ugliest, the 83-85 convertible. I ask him if its a twentieth anniversary model, he thinks so. I look it up on the web just to see how rare it was. When I send him to the website, I'm on the phone with him and we discuss the numbers. So I say.. you better keep it. He says yea maybe your right. :D I talk to him later in the the week, he looked at it, a 83 with an intercepter engine in it. Painted like a 20th car. He wants to know what I would give him for it. I should have said .... I'll trade you even!! But instead I said I'd think about it. I would really rather finish up the Cougar...
The Stang is running the Cougar isn't but it wont be hard to put back on the road. Stored parts, extra hood, gray interior door pieces. NOS bolts for accessories bracket, supports and water pump. Whatever you guys have in these bolts better clean them up and store them away. They are already hard to find.

i consider our car as rare as a 60's or 70's hot rod.. why?  b/c what eric said, no to little factory support.. basically our support is contributed souly by the mustang.
